Eurovision 2010s: 209 - 205
209. Anna Rossinelli -Ā āIn love for a whileā.Ā Switzerland 2011
āIn love for a whileā is three minutes of rather friendly, if pleasant noises. The entry itself is nothing worth getting excited over.Ā
However, what does excite me is that this fricking song not only survived a very stacked semifinal in which it was considered a guaranteed NQ, but on doing so also MURDERED the shit entries from Turkey and Armenia š This is equivalent toĀ Carousel qualifying this year, and in doing so slaying Leonora and Sergey. SO MUCH UNDERDOG BLOOD CLINGING TO ITS HANDS, WE STAN!! #ForceOfGood š¤

208. Elaiza -Ā āIs it right?ā Germany 2014
āIs it right?ā is a pleasant song, a likable presence in its own right. I think itās better though because itās a lowkey earworm.Ā
However,Ā Elaiza also provide a variation of the Rossinelli journey: first of all, it (deservedly) won an excellent edition of Unser Song from a wildcard position, which is hilarious (because the alternative, Unheilig, was universally beloved and also not very good), and secondly they somehow avoided bottom five, despite, you know, Germany and despite being wedged right between Conchita and Sanna <3 We love our overachieving randoms!!

207. Waylon -Ā āOutlaw inĀ āemā the Netherlands 2018
[2018 Review here]
Waylon is a whole different beast, however. I actually thinkĀ āOutlaw inĀ āemā was a pretty great song that provided a lot of high voltage energy in a year that I honestly didnāt care much about. Love that the general Ʀsthetic bursts with personality <3Ā the leopard print jacket and the personalized guitar belt <3 It just feels so quintessentially Waylon.
However, we need to address the act, which was terrible. Itās one of those cases where, yes, the link between song and act is a valid one, but at the same time, this is Europe, motherfucker. Nobody here was ever going to understand the liaison between the American dance style ofĀ ākrumpingā and āoutlaw in āemā without looking up the former. So why even *have* that act and assume people are going to care enough to inform themselves?Ā STAGING THAT ISNāT SELF-EXPLANATORY IS BAD STAGING!
Good song though ^__^

206. Sarah McTernan -Ā ā22ā³ Ireland 2019
āEverytime Iām with somebody Iām confusing him with youā Ā Did we ever get a lowdown of how Sarahās dating life works?Ā WE WANT THE RECEIPTS DAMMIT. š”
Anyway, given how generally lifeless Sarahās portrayal ofĀ ā22ā³ was over the pre-show, I fully expected her to give me nothing of valueĀ in the actual performance... and I was wrong! I actually enjoyedĀ ā22ā³! Itās cute! Granted, being stranded beween Anna and Srbuk makes anyone look great, but still, Sarah made for fun, whimsical NQ fodder. The pop art/diner look were inspired choices! I will now move on by pointing out that her milkshakes are three loofahs stacked on top of each other <3 I love me some tacky thirftstore proppage <3
CONGRATZ MOLLY STERLING FOR BEING THE HIGHEST RANKED IRISH ENTRANT!!!! in what is Irelandās worst decade... I think? lol. They suck w/e.Ā

205. Agnete -Ā āIcebreakerā Norway 2016
EISSSSSSBREKUUUUUUUUH WEN YA STAK IN FROXEN WOTR...x
I donāt think I need to explain this placement of this bargain bin Maggie Burger. You either like the key change inĀ āIcebreakerā or you donāt. I personallyĀ like the key change. Yet I also think "Icebreakerā wouldāve been a lot better had it not had that key change in the first place though. š¬
and with that, weāve now reached the midpoint of this ranking :o
Anna Rossinelli
Anna Rossinelli is not only the name of a singer, but also the band she performs with. The trio plays up-beat pop since 2000 and has released four albums, all of them since 2011. Rossinelli took part at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, where she barely reached the final and left the contest with the last place in the finals. After the band participated in ESC, their popularity rose in Switzerland and the albums have all reached the top 10 in the Swiss charts Ā
Kat's ESC Discourse S6 E7: Over The Top 31 -- Alexey Vorobyov, Get You (Russia) I mean this isn't TERRIBLE, but it could have used better live vocals and the lyrics are rather...ah...rapey. Nice try, Russia, but no. 30 -- Anna Rossinelli, In Love For A While (Switzerland) Anna herself puts out a very classy vibe but that's about the only positive thing I have to say about this one. Her lyrics are repetitive and the background screen borders on saccharine. It's a little too much for the eye and Anna's awkward vibrato doesn't help matters either.
š¤ With #Eurovision 2025 just weeks away, the acts performing at the Arena+ viewing space have been announced, with a host of new and old faces! Have you bought a ticket to the screening? #ESC2025
