So my friend Jennifer pointed out to me last week that Gigi and Carmela Zumbado are sisters. See below obviously ⬇️😅
Gigi played Abril on The Rookie / The Rookie Feds, and can be seen on both shows ⬇️⬇️:
Carmela played Anna on Chicago PD; but what I didn’t know was that Carmela also guested on an episode of The Rookie too (in s3!) so they’ve both been on The Rookie! Pretty cool, right? ⬇️
Tbh I’m glad Hailey called Jay out and didn’t just follow along with what Voight wanted the way she might have before.
I’m actually relieved by it.
I also feel for Jay, because we knew every time he had to pull Voight back from the edge wasn’t going to work. Not always. There are some things he can’t fix. And I really don’t want the writers to make Jay’s purpose and his focus having to save Voight over and over.
It’s not fair to Jay and it makes Voight look like a temperamental child who shouldn’t have control of his unit.
I’m glad they didn’t leave Upstead hanging with that argument. Don’t know how much this will bleed into next season, but “Where you go I go” makes it feel like it will be okay.
Also RIP Anna.
The angst scene had more emotion than any Voight Anna interactions it was like watching two bricks talking to each other
Nobody does angst like upstead🙌🏼 & I know the opinions on Anna are pretty split, but I actually liked her and I think Carmela is a fantastic actress. I think her scenes and her storyline could’ve served so much harder if she hadn’t been Voight’s CI. She and Jason just had zero screen chemistry which meant that all of their scenes came across so bland
9x18 thoughts
Jay and Trudy superiority
Why isn't Jay as sassy as he used to be?? I totally love sassy Jay
What. The. Fuck. is a covert pancake?????? When I tell you I replayed the scene with the subtitles on to make sure I heard it right and then laughed my ass off. I'm guessing, from context, that it was his vest?, but I'm still not sure

So does Reddit just hate Hailey? Cause I saw on Reddit people hating on Hailey for what she did to Anna I saw so many posts with titles like "ill never forgive hailey for killing anna" and stuff like that
I was going into the s9 finale fully expecting some unlawful killing out of anger or something like that but it was 100% lawful
Like yeah it sucks anna died but hailey did nothing wrong she even saved hank's life
JAY AND ANNA MEET UP???
the problem i see with the anna thing is that it didn't have to end this way since ultimately vo*ght caused a "domino effect" himself... because jay and hailey were really worried about anna the whole time and in 9x16 when jay and hailey weren't allowed to help her and intervene even though she said several times that she needed help... and finally with 9x21 when everyone on the team was against lying to anna and vo*ght did it anyway, which abused her trust and still manipulated her and backed into the corner and when anna then killed escano from there it was basically over because there were only two (legal) ways it could have ended for anna and that was death (as happened in 9x22 where jay and hailey didn't do anything wrong have) or prison...i personally feel if someone has to blame themselves for how it went then it's definitely vo*ght and nobody else
Let me just make one thing clear. Anna didn't deserve to die. She was a loyal CI that the team was able to trust, and I wish the writers could have written her character out without killing her. But the minute Anna killed Escano, she wasn't just a CI; she was a murderer. And the minute Anna pulled the trigger on Voight, Hailey and Jay had the right to shoot and disarm her.
And you are absolutely right. This entire situation could have been avoided in so many ways. Voight could have pulled Anna when she asked to be out. He could have been truthful to her from the start. Anna is Voight's CI, and it's his responsibility to ensure that she is mentally okay while undercover. Instead, Voight's main goal was to catch Escano, even if it meant stressing Anna even more. So, you are right; Voight is the only person to blame for Anna's death. He may not have pulled the trigger, but he is the one who decided to keep Anna undercover when she asked numerous times to be let free.
A lot of Voight fans are blaming Hailey for the death of Anna, and it makes no sense. If you adore Voight, you should be grateful that Hailey saved his life, now twice. Hailey didn't want to kill Anna, nobody did. But in that situation, Hailey and Jay probably had no choice but to shoot. And maybe something was blocking her view, so she couldn't shoot Anna in the leg. Who knows. 🤷🏻♀️
If it was Kim, Adam, or even Erin Lindsay in this situation, people wouldn't be throwing hate.
