i guess we'll just skim over the time skip, hope Tobias was keeping watch, rely on plot for necessary contrivancy and wonder how Cassie collected those mosquitoes so easily. And why they all need to be mosquitoes at once--this is a two person job to grab DNA you don't all need to do it! Oh and also wonder why the Animorphs aren't more concerned about this hospital being infiltrated with Yeerks the way they had been worried about it the first time they set up a yeerk jacuzzi when Jake got infested. they're probably churning out controllers from there left and right!
this image is very funny to me. just his one eye sticking out into he hallway. man this shouldve been a weekly monster of the week animated show for real.
it seems like the nurses in this wing aren't controllers tho so i guess the hospital itself isnt that infiltrated? idk it seems like since this is a kids series, the yeerks don't ever try the same schemes twice and generally infiltrate earth rather ineptly.
lol dude. a fee? that's hilarious go Ax
"Actually, no <3" big fan
never say Ax doesn't joke he's the clowniest of them all lmao that's amazing.
also: "you are correct. you are hearing gunfire >_>"
also also: "Hewlett Aldershot the Third lay prone, oozing attractice aromas." pffft
Oh shit okay that was abrupt. fuck
oh baby boyyy T^T he's still been so lonely and isolated!!
omg a military captain Andalite with sense!! this is huge! why is the book series so long then it should end with this installment now that the animorphs have andalite allies surely! what could go wrong!
well shit nevermind. should've been a tip-off to assume a normal andalite warrior to sensible about something.
wow Rachel that's cold. I know you and Ax have never been that close, but hoo! i felt that. there isn't much of another option tho.
And it's clear how much his culture has a hold of him that death ritual sounds really heavy. and god imagine it echoing with that many people all in your head. it's such a creative touch i love/hate it!

every animorphs book starting exactly the same is pretty monotonous but it does set up the ax books to pop OFF. just stating his full real name again would be exciting, but now ax is telling me about some mysterious zero-space mass extrusion accident?? 👀
Okay so in #19 Ax is all freaked about Alloran morphing a kagit bird from his home planet but like... in AC Elfangor says cadets acquire it for fun to go cliff diving and Alloran was a warrior that would've collected morphs BEFORE he got possessed so like ??? Why was it so freaky?
I think this was #18 but I think this plothole accidentally closes itself because in HBC we learn that the morphing technology is very new when Alloran is already a prince, to the point where he doesn't notice Aldrea has put him in an acquiring trance or figure out that that means she could impersonate him. So I don't think he did any morphing goofing off as a cadet. Whether Ax would realistically realize this. IDK.
why in the world would you create this kind of versatile tech and not use it to its fullest capacity?? Andalites are so proud and protective of the morphing tech and they don't even use it?
what about in battle? I get the pride and training of tail blade combat but there is so much more out there! why not train with a combat morphs so you essentially have 2 lives on the battle field? you get a mortal injury in morph and then poof! all better and ready to go! (like a dnd druid)
you're in a war guys! what are you doing using morphing almost exclusively for spying??
but i could probably go on a tangent to start listing all kinds of other uses for morphing in war so. basically wtf. forget the Leeran front, actually using your own tech with more versatility could turn the tide of the war on its own. hell, go all Visser 3 on them and morph some fuck-off giant dragon type thing and take out swaths of them idk. easier than a quantum bomb or whatever.
amateurs i swear smh.
Maybe this gets explained/explored more in other books idk i haven't read farther than book 18 so far but rn...wild. just wild.

Well, I figured as much but that line got me lmao. Never change, Ax
such a good line Jake. going out guns blazing like the Berenson you are <3
man i love these books. such high stakes, but never gives up the goofs and the sillies. and the cores of each character shine so well all the time. 'shoulders' hahaha. Never change, Cassie. my fave
So since Ax was the last to morph mosquito, i guess he'll be the one to finish the mission, in the bright hole, and press the button to detonate a continent just before he poofs back to earth. but man i hope this book has some effect on the future. theyve been in contact with a trusted andalite for long enough to emphasize that they need help on Earth and ask for reinforcements to get there ASAP. or some backup at least. A line to reach them, even. idk something would be nice. fingers crossed I guess.
also they morph A Lot in small periods of time now. i guess they've gotten used to the fatigue of it but damn. that's a lot of morphs in less than 24 hrs
awww he admires the team so muchh T^T
yeah i can def see why the queer community loves these books.
weird that they were brought back to the same moment in time too.. maybe that was an Ellimist intervention or something who knows. what a wild ride
oh man this is gonna be a gross one isnt it. Excited for more Ax narration but sad to lose his journal entries. but at least we have this thoughts.
you keep makin those human mouth sounds with your human mouth, kiddo it's adorable
oh buddy you went on a buns mission all by yourself? i wonder if this will put him off cinnamon buns for a while or if that gag will continue. i like it, it's cute but i wonder when it'll taper off for war-focused future book reasons
That cannot be a real name lmao. HEWLETT? and someone has been named that 2 other times in this family? sure okay hahaha. Thank u for backing me up on this one Marco
Do these kids live near someone who's in the Secret Service? well that's kind of a big clue about their location in the states isn't it?? I guess Ax isn't concerned about that but...whatever. welp I'm sure nothing regarding the POTUS will be ridiculous at all.
I wonder what morph V3 picked for his human form. would he try and pick someone powerful looking? someone he saw on TV? someone interesting? some controller they got rid of? he's so ridiculous and cartoony but no one ever describes his human morph. They just sense his evil aura lol
why is that a bad thing? there's a rather low chance Ax could be caught by human means for very long but wouldn't exposure be a good thing, for the animorphs?
what do you mean, done?! he would have been so easy to capture/kill then!! the exposure would have been worth it and potentially even helpful wtf! Is the hesitation over potentially killing him in cold blood or because of alloran or what?? Let him die in the back of the mcdonalds!
I'm still not over the close win i'm sorry. the cute shorm moment between Ax and tobias is good i love them but but im so pissed. I guess Ax is too but uuugh!! anyway it's very sweet that he looks fondly on that one night Cassie invited him for chili dinner and i get that he's worried about his home planet. but oh man. there was no reason to stop there. V3 should be dead toast rn. Also Tobias doesn't need to be sleeping outside when it's raining. just hunker in the barn u poor wet bird boy
can't wait to read it, cutie. that got a chuckle outta me
oh so that's how the mosquitoes come into play! wow that's clever. (have i mentioned how much i love cassie?) I wonder why she mentioned this if she's totally against it--i guess she feels much less stable as a moral center ever since asking Jake to kill Fenestre for her so i suppose this'll keep happening.
(also, i get the time skips for school but this one is kinda time sensitive. guys, he might have already left the hospital guys. guys, the hospital might be kinda hard to just fly into, what about doors? i know they do half baked plans but cmoooon)
(i keep saying this. i know its a kids series but how convenient that every planet they visit has a breatheable atmosphere for every species that comes to visit.)
I love Rachel so much and I totally undertsand where oth are coming from and i love inter-party disagreements and this one feels like the heaviest one featured so far. I mean maybe some of Cassie's moral hangups have been pretty heavy in the past but none have ever felt so direct. I know this series doesn't have the happiest ending but i hope that at least some of the animorphs stay friends/close to the end.
lmao in the middle of all of this, at the tail end of morphing a bat, "there is nothing uglier than a human nose" hahaha
im glad he finally feels like he belongs with the animorphs, even wondering if he's 'selling out to the humans' because of it. little mini elfangor, you're growing into his hooves nicely, though hopefully with less guilt on your shoulders in the future
"Yee-hah!, Rachel yelled, then laughed her feral, dangerous laugh." --huge fan, no notes, perfect line
nooooo Tobias! did he get z-space sucked back to earth??? oh poor rachel crying and raging alternately, and cassie just clinging to jake! these poor lost babies
wait what? wdym usually gray? Do you see colors differently than people do? Because that's what the oceans look like on earth too bud. odd.
also odd that ppl just keep disappearing out of nowhere wonder where that's going.
wdym no predators? surely the leerans are?? or maybe something you havent seen yet? but that'd be ecologically impossible
the animorphs have to do that in almost every battle. it's what makes this series so effective i think. they have to contend with the real visceral gory parts of war, not just the numbers, facts, figures and ranged weapons (I'm sure this has been touched on by lots of ppl on here, but yeah.). which i guess is part of why they were so fascinated with using a dracon beam gun last book, but didn't end up keeping/using anything like it.
and i understand that the psychic thing must be super uncomfortable for the team, but it still sounds super useful, not only for battle but for delegating jobs and understanding group cohesion and stuff. idk i hope they morphs leerans again that was fun. poor marco still hoping for his mom here, i'd totally forgotten about her involvement with the leeran thing this time.
i could talk for way too long about this tbh
I don't always point out how witty and clever Marco is, but i love his line "So humility is just no something you Andalites do, is it?" because of course he picks up on that andalite pride so quick and has been comparing Ax to every andalite he meets. so good.
ough im so proud of Ax (even in the absence of Rachel), presenting Jake as his Prince/commander to Galuit! yes little animorph, that's what you are! And Jake does not disappoint!! so noble
