kyle lost a part of himself with johnny.
a piece of him torn from his person, rippled and bled in tandem with johnny. a little bit of all of them passed that night, none walking away with all they had entering.
kyle never got the chance to meet the liveliness of the mactavish family. never got to know the bonds linked between johnny and the family that made him. he would never get to know the sibling dynamic first hand, what annoyed johnny in a way that only a person who grew with him could accomplish.
his first meet was the weeping frown of mrs. mactavish, the opportunity of seeing her eyes light up from her son slipped through his fingers before he could feel it.
kyle missed out on a lot johnny had yet to show them, they all did. robbed of it really. it ached, walking into his room. seeing notes of eccentric plans to round them all. knowing that somewhere in the scotts ticking mind, all he wanted was for his families to meet.
they did. eventually. at the funeral.
it was there, kyle ran into you. one of johnnys many sisters. depsite the shadows that wallowed the home, you smiled. a warm inviting grin that was so so so familiar. sharp in a sweet way that was nostalgia.
kyle would never get to experience johnnys family interactions first hand. but second hand was just fine. especially coming from someone like you, someone who knew johnny like they knew themselves.
it was clear two were the closest of the mactavish siblings, mirroring each other like twins wired on the same frequency.
you giggled sweetly, recounting how your brother had nearly choked on a grape when you threw it into his mouth. eyes crinkled like his when you dramatically retold a story of how he was lost for hours once, only to be found in the pantry. wirst deep in a jar of his favorite local jelly. ( price ended up buying the whole stock, in favor of it for johnny or himself )
kyle lost johnny. but watching you, share the divine perspective for life like he had, made him feel like a little came back. johnny wasnt all lost, just changed.
he made sure your baby knew how wonderful his uncle was the moment he opened his pretty blue eyes.
