What is something you look for in an otp? oooh, i look for opposites attract. i love a dark, brooding boy paired with a sunny girl. i love height difference. i love let me protect you (especially from the weaker of the duo). i want trust & love & i want to see their romance unfold. it can be slow burn or fast, i dont care. i just want to FEEL what they feel for each other.

5. Why do you ship the otps that you do? because they offer me all of those above things and usually more. zutara gave me enemies to friends to lovers. they built an unshakable bond / trust in one another to the point that it was katara that zuko wanted by his side to finally face his sister once and for all. usamamo gives me the 'i wanna protect the person i love' from both sides- usagi being the powerhouse she is constantly is saving and bringing those she loves back from death. it kills mamoru that he can't be that person for he, but it doesn't stop him from trying. also their love transcends time itself??? jonsa gives me ultimate trust between two people- sansa finds jon after the worst period in her life, a period that has opened her eyes to being a new person, a BETTER person. jon has just come back to life and has something new to live for that he didnt have before. MAN I COULD GO ON AND ONNNNNNN

“You broke my heart.”

The words fell between them like a bomb, though softly they had been spoken. So softly that he had to strain to hear them. His heart twinged with pain, with guilt, and he bowed his head. How could he look upon her? How could he look into her eyes and know that the pain within them was caused by him? He dared himself to look up and her blue irises were soft and full of tears, tears she seemed to be trying to blink away. Her hands were twisting before her, gloves tattered and torn after the fierce battle they had just fought.

He had saved her, as he always had, almost as if nothing had ever happened. But… something had happened. Something awful. And she needed him to understand just how deeply her heart ached. She needed him to understand that his leaving her had hurt worse than almost anything else had ever hurt her in all of her young life. She needed him to understand how she’d nearly lost herself to the pain of being without him. It mattered not the reason why he’d done it (to “protect her” he had told her) only the fact he’d done it at all. After all they’d been through… After all the times they had suffered, in this life and the one before… He was willing to give that all up without so much as talking to her about it.

Mamoru fought to find the words to utter to make this all go away. He opened his mouth to speak, to tell her everything he’d been holding in these last few weeks… He  needed her to understand his reasoning behind breaking her heart. He needed her to understand that he had rather have died than be the reason for her pain and suffering… But more than anything else, he’d rather her be alive and hate him, then be dead and lost to him. Mamoru knew, deep down, he’d acted rashly… But he couldn’t help but to react the way he had. So many dreams, no, nightmares… So many sleepless nights he spent worrying over what the dreams had meant, wondering if they were only just that… Dreams.

But he couldn’t  chance that, could he?

“I know…” He murmured softly, shaking his head as he looked away from her, the heartbreak much to evident on her features. “I don’t expect you to understand why I did it,” he went on, trying to remain strong, trying to stay firm. This was for her own good, after all.

“But you saved me,” she whispered, a single tear tracing the curve of her cheek, a hopeful sort of smile taking root on her  beautiful features. “You saved me, Mamoru. That means something.”

“It means nothing.” He said sharply, turning away from her, his own heart breaking at the sound of her soft little gasp. He may as well have slapped her. “You’re needed to protect the world. I will always protect you, for the earth’s benefit.” He forced himself to walk away from her then, knowing that if he turned around he wouldn’t be able to stay strong. He had to stay away from her, if he meant to save her. It didn’t matter how badly it hurt him. Mamoru knew what Usagi was to the world- both now and in the future, and he would give up everything he had if it meant she would live on, safe and well.

like we’re talking about fictional characters and ships.

3. What is something you look for in an otp?  random things that come to me at once: height difference, enemies to lovers, angry boy & soft girl, self sacrifice for the other, power difference (one is really strong, the other isnt) with lots of romance and angst sprinkled in. i love to see it in my otp’s eyes, like i want to know before they know / tell us on screen. 

i think immediately of usagi and mamoru from sailor moon. they bump into each other and annoy the absolute shit out of each other at first. but they slowly fall into a pattern of trust, tolerance, friendship, and finally love. when mamoru looks at usagi, it’s with such a devotion, i cant even with them. he watches her like she’s truly a goddess. but there’s a level of angst between them- he’s afraid he’s not strong enough to protect her & she worries her power puts him in danger- that just adds so much depth to their characterizations as individual characters and a relationship.  i still remember the depth of of my feelings watching their scenes for the very first time as a kid- like what true love that must have been because he nearly died for her before they even knew the truth of their pasts! what they have for each other truly makes them an otp on another level entirely. + they fit my height difference obsession lmao 

i also cant help but to gush over zutara because hello, enemies to lovers trope. they start out as mortal enemies, on two entirely different sides of a war. they find each other and build a relationship built by zuko’s initial betrayal. but thats what makes what they have so much better. katara trusts him entirely by the end of the series and zuko has never cared so much about anyone before that he would step in front of a death blow just to save her.

10. What is a headcanon you have of them? OOH, let’s talk about hinny. because i wanted to gush about them in the first question  but didnt because it was already ENOUGH. 

anyways, hinny headcanon: harry is absolutely ginny’s #1 fan. he’s in the front rows of every practice, every game. he would pull a luna lovegood & wear something on his head at the games if he wasnt afraid she’d murder him for it. but he’s always there in the crowd, cheering her on through every moment. he’s always decked out in harpies gear & paints her uniform number on his cheek. 

12. Is your otp canon?  ahaahahaha i meaaaan...

i’ve got a few 100% ones (usamamo, hinny, inukag) but i feel like im queen of the “could be” ships (zutara & jonsa come to mind immediately.) 

10. Name a ship that is funny. 

i think immediately of zutara only because they’re just both so... oblivious. literally. and its HILARIOUS. but if im going to say them, id also have to say inukag & anyone else thats just so obviously into each other to everyone but them. 

11. Name a ship that is sweet.

usamamo. they just ooze sweetness & anyone who has experienced any adaptation of sailor moon probably agrees. they care SO FUCKING MUCH about each other & they’re constantly trying to outdo each other in “who can be sweeter” to the other. i mean... usagi is so precious anyways, but when she’s dealing with someone she loves? game over man. and mamoru just loves his all powerful, magical wand waving girlfriend so much it reduces us all (and him) to tears kind of regularly. 

12. Name a ship that is tragic.

i’m kind of mad at myself for using usamamo above, because wow do they fall under this umbrella. and now i want to ramble about them!!! because HOW UNFAIR was fate to them?

but, to keep from repeating myself which is boring (this is a reminder to everyone out there, im a very willing participant in conversations about how sad and wonderful and perfect usamamo is) ill say...

kaori x kousei from your lie in april. honestly, they broke me, that show broke me, and ive literally not rewatched it since the first time because it made me cry that much.
