I had no idea that that's what went down. This is so evil.

Alright, in regards to the live action Winx adaptation that came out earlier this year, basically what they did was take Flora, a character who is Latina (they’re not human, but their appearances were inspired by real world races) and cast her as a white girl.
When the initial casting was released back in 2019, the fandom blew up in anger over this due to having changed her from Latina to white. They changed her name to Terra to try and hide this, but the initial cast sheets revealed that Terra was supposed to be Flora and got changed due to the backlash. This is compounded by the fact the main show has been making Flora’s skin tone lighter since the change in style for both Season 8 and World of Winx, so that didn’t help matters.
After having faced severe backlash over the casting choice, they’ve now decided to add Flora who will be played by a Latina actress. Thus, Flora having two live-action counterparts. Meanwhile, Tecna over here just not being adapted even though there’s nothing stopping her from being adapted. And none of this is a dig at the actress for taking the role. The fault lies more on the casting director over anyone else.
The issue arises in the fact that they could have done this from the start and not had the controversy. It’s a case of legit whitewashing that flies in the face of the effortless diversity Winx Club has had in its titular characters since the beginning. Fate itself has other issues, mainly in writing, but the whitewashing didn’t help it at all from the start. It feels a bit disingenuous to me.
TL;DR, whitewashing Flora has lead to her getting two counterparts when she could have just been casted properly in the beginning.
Happy birthday to one of my favorite YouTubers! Thanks for all the laughs, it really helped me get through last year.
Thank you!

What was your inspiration to tie Wakaba to Mitsuru's family as well as having Ken join the Phantom Thieves?
For Wakaba, I thought it was really interesting that she researched Shadows. And I thought it’d be cool to have her formerly work for the Kirijo Group and that’s how she started researching on Shadows. But she grew curious about different things than the Kirijo Group was interested in, so she left. (Plus this made a great tie-in for Ken to be worried about Futaba, similar personal arcs aside). Additionally, as you know, I adore continuity nods.
As for Ken... While playing P5, I found myself wondering especially where the Shadow Operatives were, due to their specific purpose. (And the IT too, especially since Akechi is said to be the next Detective Prince). It got me thinking about what exactly would happen to stop Mitsuru of all people.
And then I noticed more and more hints that pointed to P5 taking place in 2016 and I got to thinking... what would Ken think of the Phantom Thieves? As you can see in the story, the Shadow Operatives were leery of the PTs initially. But I thought that Ken would really sympathize with the Phantom Thieves, especially hearing their personal stories. (Fun fact: I picked up my third run of Minato’s route after stopping after the July mission while writing the Kaneshiro arc and it hit me that it would really hit close to home once Ken knew the whole story with Futaba.) But I think Ken would be a good link between the two groups.
Also the idea of the straight-laced Ken having to deal with the quirky group that is the Phantom Thieves is extremely entertaining to me.
It’s a scene from THE GREAT DUAL SUBSTITUTE TURNABOUT fanfiction~
Not this exact word to word. But this is one of my favorites–if not, the MOST–favorite scene in this fanfiction~

Also, they’re not siblings in this universe so TECHNICALLY I can ship them, right??? :’D
