Valentine’s Day Prompts

11. First Valentine’s Day after a break-up

(sidenote: i hc that the people in Lex’s cards are part of the force that Lex is in. references: Tiberius / Nitzan / Aelia / Titus

As they inched closer to Saint Valentine’s Day, or ‘V-Day’ as Nitzan joked (much to the glaring of the rest of their squad), Lex seemed to become more and more engrossed in his work, to the point when he was never left his desk on the eve of the day.

“Lex,” Tiberius sighed, letting his weight fall upon his hands as stood in front of Lex’s table.. “You can’t bury yourself in your work like this. Come drink with us at the bar.”

Everyone else was already packed up for the day - Aelia had her satchel slung over her shoulder, Titus was polishing his magnums out of boredom now, and Nitzan had paced to Lex’s side of his desk to help cajole him. “C’mon, let’s celebrate being single! No use obsessing over your ex-”

“Nitzan.” Aelia spoke up, warning in her voice. Nervous glances were shared over Lex’s head. They knew better than to mention him; Lex’s old partner, both in work and at home. His name hadn’t been spoken outside of arrests and possible sightings, but they all keenly felt his absence, now, on the evening before Valentines. Nitzan quietened back down.

Tiberius bent his head lower, trying to catch Lex’s eye. “Please Lex. Don’t wall us out too.” 

Finally, Lex deigned to glance up. “I’d rather be alone right now. Paperwork still needs to be done.” His face was set, his voice steady, but no-one bought it.

Still, short of manhandling Lex to the bar, there wasn’t much else they could do. Tiberius ran his hand over his shaved head, then pushed himself off the table in defeat. “If you say so.” He conceded. People filed out, with the exception of Aelia, who lingered in the doorway. 

“We miss him too.” She said softly, pain in her brown eyes.

Lex glanced back down at his paperwork. Funny, were the words always this watery...? He heard the door close gently as she left. Now that he was truly alone, he let his face crumple in regret, looking at the ceiling. The ache in his chest was a familiar one, and had lessened ever since that fateful day, but now it felt like it was snaking up his throat and threatening to choke him.

He had no idea how long he stared at the ceiling, but it’s long enough that he’s interrupted with the chime of the grandfather clock in the corner. Midnight. And also, Valentine’s Day.

It is WELL KNOWN that Lex is smokin, Androxus likes his body and his hair (and his eyes...). Lex could spend hours tracing the veins in Androxus’ cursed arm. That’s ugly. He’s learned to look beyond it.

THICK as THIEVES although they’ve grown apart severely, the flame is still there. Androxus feels last strings of loyalty tying him to Lex and Lex feels likewise, though Androxus has convinced him he’s moved beyond.

Andro’s symbiote, Curse, was made up by a Life Foundation-type organization. They originally intended to get Lex-- he’s much morel loyal to the Law, and to his superiors.

Instead, they got... Andro. Curse bonded to him, and he ran off with their symbiote. They got in contact with the Right law officer and sent him to bring Andro and Curse back.

Lex doesn’t know what to do. He knows what he’s supposed to do, and he knows that he should do it! But he keeps letting Andro slip through his fingers again and again.

Lex is solid silver and Androxus is a broad-shouldered brown tabby-- ah fuck. Lex is renamed to Falconheart and Androxus is renamed to Cedarstorm. I’m using traditionalist naming patterns for this! If it was lyrical they’d be different, I think.
