andrew is taking an acting class after he loses a bet.

neil is taking an acting class because matt made his schedule.

kevin is taking an acting class because he’s annoying.

they are all juniors.

first day of class neil sits across the room from a blonde freshman with tattoos and ripped jeans. ugh and he’s sitting next to kevin. why did kevin steal the only interesting person.

kevin and neil have had classes together every semester since freshman year. this was not intentional. neither of them are happy about it.

andrew sees a kid engulfed in a metallica shirt glaring at kevin from across the room. when did kevin have time to piss off a freshman?

the professor has them go around the room, introduce themselves, and ask a classmate a question

neil asks andrew about his tattoos. kevin is upset that neil didnt ask him.

andrew asks neil to name three songs. neil is confused by this, which andrew does NOT find endearing.

after class ends kevin approaches neil and is like “this cant keep happening. switch your schedule.” and neil’s like well that’s too bad, because i have a writing class that cant be moved. so does kevin. the same one. why does this keep happening.

andrew decides to improve the situation by claiming neil as his partner for every assignment going forward. kevin is betrayed. neil is pleased.

the next week when andrew and neil are leaving, their professor pulls them to the side. and asks them if they knew each other before this class, and they’re like uh no ???

and he’s like hmmmmm. interesting. i just wanted to let you know that i noticed such a strong connection between you two on the first day, i assumed youd been intimate for years. ah this is exciting. i cant wait to see how your relationship blossoms.

andrew is mortified. neil is never going to speak to him again.

as soon as they leave the room they just kind of look at each other before neil starts giggling and then fully laughing because what the fuck was that.

- Neil doesn't like sweets (Canon fact) but he was willing to take baking classes in order to gift Andrew some chocolate cookies for his birthday (Among other things he learned how to prepare) If the foxes notice him walking funny the next day, Andrew's death stare kept them at bay.

- Andrew knows Neil's schedule and makes sure to remind him to take something with him to eat between breaks. Sometimes he makes small sandwiches and Neil dies inside every time he finds one in his bag.

-Neil leaves post it notes in the fridge when he goes out for a run and Andrew keeps them inside a small box (He also keeps there the receipts from every book Neil has gifted him and of the places they have gone to different dates.)

- When Neil has a nightmare and can't go back to sleep, Andrew tells him about the new book or series he's been paying attention to lately. As they get better with touching and casual PDA, Andrew lets Neil rest his head on his chest and curls his fingers through those red curls until Neil falls asleep again. (Somewhere down the line, this starts happening even when the nightmares are gone.)

- Once, Andrew took a class where he learned how to profile criminals. Neil helped him with all his assignments because damn is he good at figuring people out.

- Sometimes, when Andrew wants to mess with Neil before a game, he leans in and whispers in Russian "The amount of times you score tonight, it's the amount of times I'll let you score when we're alone" at first Neil doesn't get it, but later when they are...celebrating...well, while he's catching his breath and his tights are trembling and he's panting like he ran a marathon and Andrew asks him if he can give him a fourth one...How can he say no? (Kevin and later on Robin learned to make themselves scarce when Neil is determine to at least score five times during a game)

- When Andrew graduates and they are doing long distance, they make sure to call each other every night to talk or simply hear each other breathe. It's the only times Neil keeps his phone fully charged.

- Andrew once tells Neil how there was a cat on one of his foster homes and how much he liked the cat, especially since once that furball scratched and fought when his foster father entered his bedroom one night. Neil mentions how they should get one when they are living together after graduation and can't understand why Andrew kisses him with so much desperation (It's the fact he said When instead of If. But Andrew won't tell him that)

- During Halloween of Neil's second year, Allison wanted to win a bet and convinced Neil to dress up as a bunny (I'm talking about shorts with high tights and bunny ears, with drawn moustaches and everything) Andrew kept quiet the entire time at Eden's and Neil through something bad had happened. Later that night, when he was riding Andrew in their room at Columbia and he heard the "That's it, keep doing that bunny" he understood it was anything but bad. (And if the pet name stuck, it's between them and them only) (Oh my God, maybe I'll write a one shot about this? Should I?)

- Sometimes Neil lets out words in the different languages he knows because he can't remember the English word (Things we bilinguals know can happen) Andrew refuses to tell him the correct word and it's one of the few times something akin to a smile appears on his face.

-Andrew allows Neil to fight his own battles, especially regarding Jack. But after Neil punched the guy, Andrew made sure to carefully explained him what would happen if he ever made another comment towards Neil's appearance.

At first it’s believed to be a stan account or something similar, since all they do is post clips from his games and interviews, half the time zoomed in on his arms with a ridiculous commentary dubbed over it

No one knows who makes the videos, mainly because they always use voice filters

But then the account starts posting videos of andrew?? Like at home?? And they’re not like reposted Instagram stories, it really seems that this person is living with andrew

(these videos coincidentally start posting around the same time that neil josten joins andrews team)

On their anniversary, Neil decides to surprise Andrew and shows up at his office. He enters and Andrew isn't there yet, so he waits for him

Suddenly there's a knock on the door, and Neil automatically says "come in"

A small group of students enter "Professor And—" and suddenly they've stopped because they aren't looking at Andrew, they're looking at Neil Josten. At Neil Josten. In Andrew's office

"You're not Andrew"

As a response to Neil's comment, they're just standing there, stunned, mouths open. It was getting a little awkward now

That's when Andrew enters (thankfully) and freezes for a second when he sees Neil in his office

"What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to surprise you" he holds out a box "Cupcakes" and then the most gorgeous smile lights his face

Andrew holds up his finger to tell him to wait a slight smile tugging his lips and turns towards his students

The first thing his students say – "That's Neil Josten"

Andrew lifts a brow "Congratulations on having eyes. Now tell me why you're bothering me after hours"

"Umm... We had a question about a case..."

Andrew clears their doubt for them, but their eyes keep flickering over to Neil. So he stops and says "You have 2 minutes"

They squeal happily and are asking Neil for autographs and pictures. Once their 2 minutes are up they finish their discussion with Andrew and leave, but they can't stop thinking about who Professor Minyard is, and how he knows these people

Of course, word spreads and students go asking for Neil and Kevin's autographs. So a few days later in class - "If you don't want to be gutted with a knife in your sleep, you will not ask me to get you any autographs"

One day he comes in wearing a shirt with "Josten" written on the back. They don't notice at first because he's wearing a coat over it

When he removes his coat they ask him about it but he glares at them, so they stop

But this one student, Johnson, refuses to stop

He keeps bugging Andrew about why he is wearing a famous Exy players shirt. So at the end of the day "If you ask me that one more time I will give you an F on your test Johnson, and no I do not give a fuck"

One day Andrew is really late for class. All the students are talking about him, trying to figure out who he is and how he knows famous Exy players

So they decide to search him up

They aren't expecting to find much, but

They are SHOCKED

They knew he went to juvie, but it was because he was protecting his cousin (they were also a little concerned about the fact that he was able to singlehandedly almost kill 4 people twice his size)

He was in foster care, found his twin, was in the crash that killed his mom (and the entire thing seemed a little off to a few students...because it kind of seemed like he killed her??? But that wasn't possible)

And. He is married. To Neil Josten.

He'd made Court. Played next to Neil and Kevin. And they'd won the freaking Olympics (many students were freaking out over that amazing kiss Neil and Andrew shared when they won gold)

He scored a goal from his position

(everyone was frozen for a few minutes when they saw that)

Later, Andrew enters his class only to see the projector down and exy playing on the screen

When he gets closer he realises that they're watching his matches. Andrew Minyard's highlights.

They're so awed by what they're seeing on the screen, they don't notice Andrew is there until they hear a bored voice drawl "Having fun?"

Andrew is standing right there, arms crossed and an eyebrow raised

They regret watching exy in his class

Nevertheless, they've learned to pretend that he's not a brilliant Exy goalkeeper in front of him

But behind him

People are obsessed

They are constantly talking about his stats, his greatest saves, marvelling over how he seems to know where the ball is going to go before the striker shoots, and how he's able to hit it back to his players perfectly, talking about how amazing he is

So now, with every new batch of freshman

"You will NOT talk about exy in front of me. No matter fucking what. If you do, you will not live long enough to regret it. If you value your vocal chords you will not ask for any autographs whatsoever. Don't even think about saying the word "fine" around me".

All this in the most bored voice he can manage, which somehow makes his threat seem more threatening

Everyone's eyes are wide and their mouths have hit the floor. They are appropriately terrified.

Every batch of freshmen find out about Andrew and Neil from the older batches, and people occasionally see Neil around campus (especially after he retires)

Students try to talk to him and quickly realise that he's not really going to respond unless they talk about Andrew or Exy

Andrew has had to glare murderously at people several times so they leave his husband alone

They all eventually have a love - hate relationship with him, where they are fond of him but that doesn't mean they'll push him because he's still scary

Neil had been off all day.

He got to practice and within the first five minutes, Kevin had yelled at him no less than thirteen times.

Normally, that would’ve been no big deal. Neil would’ve told Kevin to shut his bitchy face and practice would’ve continued on and Kevin would probably have yelled some more.

Neil couldn’t explain it, but today, it didn’t sit right with him.

He’d said as much to Andrew once they’d gotten themselves away from the team and up on the roof. Andrew had watched him for a moment before he shrugged.

“You have a problem with wanting everyone to like you,” he said. “It makes no sense with the way you piss people off all the time.” He didn’t try and keep the last part quiet and Neil glared, but he couldn’t keep the act up long. He rolled his eyes.

“Thanks, Drew. I love you too,” he said. It had been a sarcastic, petty comment (Neil was usually good at those). He hadn’t meant it like that, even if he did love Andrew.

He did. There was no doubt about it. Neil had just never felt the need to say the words. Andrew knew already, just like Neil knew Andrew loved him.

Still, he felt like he’d gone too far, even if it was an accident.

“Uh, I mean—I’m sorry, I didn’t—“

“Shut up, Junkie.” Andrew handed him a cigarette and stood up. He tossed Neil the lighter and Neil caught it, but Andrew walked over to him anyway.

“Andrew, really, I—“

“Shut up. Yes or no?”

Neil raised his eyebrows and shifted so Andrew could sit between his legs, leaving enough room that they were barely touching.

“Yes,” Neil said.

Andrew only looked at Neil, like he was trying to decide something.

After a moment, he seemed to come to a decision, because he pulled the cigarette and the lighter from Neil’s hand and he sat himself on Neil’s lap.

“Yes or no?” he asked again, just to make sure.

Neil held back the noise that was threatening to escape his mouth and nodded.

Andrew stopped just before his lips met Neil’s.

“Two hundred and forty seven percent.”

“Refresh my memory. Is that how much you want to kill me or how much you want to fuck me?”

“Three hundred, Josten.”

They don’t say it after that, because those three words really aren’t something that matter to them.

They know it already.

It’s in the way Neil answers Andrew on the first ring and calls him before he’ll call anyone else.

The way Andrew wakes Neil up to the smell of waffles in the morning (even if he does only get out the sugar and honey, like the sweet toothed lil murderer he is).

The time they spend in the car basking in the comfortable silence and Andrew’s hand on Neil’s thigh.

The days spent learning sign language because fuck Nicky and his stupid eavesdropping

The way Neil suggests they get tattoos to cover their arms and the way Andrew rolls his eyes and calls Neil dramatic but still grabs the keys and walks out the door.

Andrew and Neil don’t have to say they love each other because they show each other every day.
