#deltarune spoilers #deltarune chapter 2 #deltarune chapter 5 #berdly #lancer #7 colored flowers #sometimes I identify parallels that are deep and meaningful. and sometimes you get this #still in mourning for the concept of Berdly and Lancer being friends. or even just interacting more than two and a half times #I think they could've had a dynamic somewhat like Seth and Aqua's and it would've been fun to see that #okay normal tags over here comes the bucketload-of-salt ranting #I've seen. a Lot of people being like 'Seth is Obviously a parallel to Asriel and literally no one else'#and like. sure. we haven't actually seen what Deltarune Asriel is like. but maybe they're similar. Maybe.#but are we just going to ignore the way more obvious character comparison for Seth. really.#do people hate Berdly so much he just doesn't even register in their minds #also another thing - I do share the belief that Darkners often reflect the thoughts and feelings of their fountain's creator #as well as the other Lightners who are around at the time or who have interacted with the Darkners in some way etc. etc.#however. it's explicitly stated in the text of the game that the flowers Are Not Darkners #so if they bear resemblance to any Lightners it's a conscious choice on their part as living beings #(in terms of personality at least. appearance-wise is more up in the air since No One Can Choose Who They Are In This World)#I've seen so so so many takes that presume the flowers are a certain way because of what was going on in Kris's head (or Asgore's)#and that's just... not... how it works... for them...#Kris didn't Make Them like that.#Asgore kind of did but in the sense that he's been their caretaker for their whole existence #so they've mostly taken their cues on How To Be A Person from watching him & his family & the other people around him #and so I think that Seth's very clear similarity to Berdly is. very simply.#a consequence of them having been exposed to Berdly at some point and deciding that they want to be like him.#okay rant over. I have a lot of thoughts and opinions on many things but I don't often make them into proper posts #so they end up hidden in the tags like this instead

Not "The Character did nothing wrong" or "The Character is irredeemably awful" but a secret third thing: The Character may display moments of deep love & compassion, may even have a strong sense of ethics, and may also be capable of brutal cruelty that is irreconcilable with those traits. The constant tension between the different sides of The Character's nature is exactly what makes them compelling, and attempting to reduce them down to simply "a terrible person" or "innocent & misunderstood" is missing the point of the questions a media with nuanced characters is asking you to consider

hey yall know that reclaiming slurs doesnt mean using the slurs against people as slurs right? like when normal people say "reclaiming slurs" what we mean is taking away the power of the slurs by using them for yourself or your loved ones who reclaim it so when youre called a slur your brain goes to "oh, all my friends!" and it doesnt sting so bad, we're not saying to just call people slurs because youre a bigot whos hiding behind your identity

#a lot of self proclaimed “radical feminists” using misogynistic slurs against misogynized people #but also this is just something ive seen a lot #like i dont really use slurs like that but like. the r slur for example. you being autistic and “reclaiming” the slur #does not mean that you get to call other autistic people the r slur to be bigotted towards them #like thats not how that works. youre just using it as a slur #trans man #transmasc #transandrophobia #anti transmasculinity #trans #transgender

'rocky learns to swear in english' is great and all but have we considered the equally hilarious alternative: rocky makes grace a little harmonica so he can use tone indicators in eridian, does not realize how terrible of a mistake this is until it's too late. grace catches onto tone indicators FAST and he is DEVASTATING with their application. grace does not use eridian swears but rocky gets to hear "are we choosing kind words" and "I'm not mad I'm just disappointed" in eridian roughly thirty times per day

#grace figures out Disappointed Teacher tone indicators in less than twenty four hours #the first time he uses it rocky is suddenly shaking with flashbacks to being a 30yo eridian in school #pov you are stuck in deep space and your middle school teacher alien roommate has just figured out how to scold you in your native language #rocky is a mechanic. they are immune to being cussed out but the Teacher Voice works on them solidly seven times out of ten #when the beatles get back to earth stratt watches the hail mary footage and every time rocky cringes as grace harmonicas at him #she's like 'ahhhhhh the teacher voice <3 I do miss that'#because when he was still on earth stratt would sometimes sicc grace on members of the phm team #because sometimes the Disappointed Teacher Voice was more effective than the Angry Boss Voice #phm #project hail mary

The problem with giving advice to angry and suffering people is that rather frequently the thing they need to know to improve their position is the last thing they want to hear and not something they have the capacity to internalize or accept
