OHHHHH boy. okay. complicated question. because, well, the cortisol levels are HIGH. man is Stressed. he's having a lot of conflicting and complicated problems. he's in an emotional and physical pressure cooker. he's made a bunch of big swings as far as deciding who he wants to be, but now he has to actually follow through, and there are a bunch of factors working against him in that respect. he is going to be multi-classing, and he does get his MCAT, but a big theme in JY is going to be about the difficulty of commitment. the strength that it takes to uphold your convictions not just in the grand, climactic moments, but also in the grind of the everyday. Riz's multiclass is going to be a little rough on him in that way. it's demanding very different things of him, and, on a mechanical level, it means that he doesn't have Reliable Talent as early, which spells only bad things for him. plus, he's trying to navigate some big relationship shifts (ie. his dad, his moms, Tracker, his friends) which are putting pressure on him in different directions. plus plus, he's dealing with an absolutely crippling case of PTSD from the Nightmare Forest, and is refusing to be treated for it in any meaningful sense. this is all making a highly volatile mental state for him.

the nightmare forest arc of the questions have been terrific made me pause reading for a little bit cuz i fear you are too talented of an author and those chapters had me Scared, so going into camp i had quite a backlog.

after long days of zip lining and swimming and singing and managing a bunch of ridiculous queer preteens, i got to come back to the cabin and use the only website that worked: ao3, to read the back end of your fic.

just hope you know that last summer you were my favorite author, and the fiction that kept me company while camp had me gently losing my mind <3
