Wishing all Chinese friends a Happy Winter Solstice. π΄Fun Facts: For the Chinese, this is the day where we have a mini reunion meal together and eat dumplings. π·For the northern Chinese, they'll eat the Cresent shaped Dumplings (filled with meat, vegetables, etc. ) π·For the Southern Chinese, they'll eat Rice Dumplings (small round ball with filings such as peanuts, red bean, etc. ) π΄Did you know: The winter solstice (or hibernal solstice), also known as the midwinter, occurs when one of the Earth's poles has its maximum tilt away from the Sun. It happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere (Northern and Southern). For that hemisphere, the winter solstice is the day with the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year, when the sun is at its lowest daily maximum elevation in the sky. At the pole, there is continuous darkness or twilight around the winter solstice. Its opposite is the summer solstice. #AmplifyPoint #WinterSolstice #Dumplings #China #Chinese #Reunion #Northern #Southern @singaporechineseculturalcentre https://www.instagram.com/p/BrrwhxaHsdm/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1aepctnlokdoi
