((I was stuck on this one, but I decided to use one of the more underrated villains, Amnael, and yes, Leysa’s back))

There were several reasons the head of the Slifer girl’s dorm was wide awake. Two of them were kicking around inside her belly. The other had been missing for days.

“It’s no good… I need to move…” she grunted. Slowly easing herself out of bed. “Just two more months, Leysa… you got this”

She paced around her room a bit, taking a few deep breaths and rubbing her stomach.

She couldn’t stop worrying about Professor Lyman Banner. He was her best friend. He had helped her so much since she started working as a teacher, made her feel welcome, comforted her when she was upset and would listen to her when she rambled about her investigations on the abandoned dorm.

But now he was just… gone…

There had to be more to it.

Leysa sighed and rubbed her back. Well, it wasn’t like she was going to sleep anyway. She might as well investigate.

She shuffled out of her dorm room and decided to head into Professor Banner’s office. Sure she investigated it earlier with a handful of her students, but leave no stone unturned, right?

Leysa slowly opened the door and looked around, “pardon the intrusion…” she whispered.

She crept into the room as best she could with her protruding belly, making sure not to disturb anything.

There had to be a folder somewhere that could be of use. As Leysa searched, she didn’t hear someone else enter the office behind her.

She found a folder and turned on a desk lamp to examine it, only to scream when she noticed the figure. He was tall, ominous, wearing a bandage that covered half his face, a long grey robe and his eyes appeared to glow gold.

“I wouldn’t open that if I were you….”

“L-Lyman!? Is that you!?” Leysa gasped in complete disbelief.

“I see… do you did recognise me…” the figure mused.

“Kinda hard not to… your accent is pretty unique….”

The figure didn’t respond to that, just glowered ominously, eyes glowing a malicious yellow.

“W-what happened to you?! We were worried sick! We thought the last shadow rider….”

Wait…. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait

Atticus mentioned that Banner was responsible for what happened to him… which could only mean…

Oh shit

“You’re a shadow rider….”

“You were always too clever for your own good…” he muttered

“Lyman, please!!” Leysa begged

“My name is Amnael!!”

Leysa suddenly felt her brain go fuzzy, her ears ringing, and her vision starting to blur.

“I erased your memory once, Leysa. I can do it again…” the shadow rider threatened.

“W-what… you… brainwashed me…?!” The teacher was gutted. What did he mean erased memories!? Wait… the night she blacked out at the abandoned dorm… could that have been!? How could he!?

This man was someone who always supported her with everything… now she saw he was just making sure he didn’t get found out.

“I thought… we were… friends…” she gasped before her legs gave out, and her consciousness started to fail.

Amnael caught her in his arms and gently lowered her to the ground. It would be so easy to seal her into his book with the others, but he knew, unlike them, she wouldn’t be able to survive there. Not to mention deep down, he didn’t want to put her babies at risk again.

So instead, he lowered her to the ground gently, ensuring no harm would come to her or her children. He took the file containing the information on the abandoned dorm and burned it. Now his trail was completely clean.

As he turned to leave the office, he looked over his shoulder and whispered in a tone laced with sorrow.
