IP, Duet Books Named Foreword INDIES Awards Finalists
Congratulations to Interlude Press and Duet Books authors Alysia Constantine, F.T. Lukens, Carrie Pack and Nancy Stewart, who were all named finalists today for Foreword Reviews’ 2017 INDIES Book of the Year Awards.
Alysia Constantine was nominated in the LGBT and Literary Fiction categories for OLYMPIA KNIFE, a moving commentary on social prejudice and erasure by way of a darkly-magical story of disappearing circus performers. BEULAH LAND, Nancy Stewart’s story of queer resistance and courage in the face of bigotry and intolerance set in the forbidding Missouri Ozarks, received nominations in the LGBT and Young Adult Fiction categories. THE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR MEDIATING MYTHS & MAGIC, F.T. Lukens’ humorous fantasy about a teenager whose day job plunges him into a world of pixies, unicorns and other fantastical beasts, was named a finalist in Young Adult Fiction. Carrie Pack’s GRRRLS ON THE SIDE, a coming of age story set in the punk-infused Riot Grrrl movement of the 1990s, was also nominated in the Young Adult Fiction category.
More than 2,000 entries spread across 68 genres were submitted for consideration in the annual literary competition. The list of finalists was determined by Foreword’s editorial team. Winners are now being decided by a panel of judges across the country, reflecting Foreword’s readership of booksellers and librarians.
Winners will be named on June 15th.
NetGalley is a site where book reviewers and other professional readers can read books before they are published, in e-galley or digital galley form. Members register for free and can request review copies or be invited to review by the publisher.
Hey, anyone who reads! (If you’re reading this, that includes you.) My first novel, SWEET, a magic realist love story set in a NYC bakery (so baked goods AND love) is now available on NetGalley! (Follow the link above.)
And my upcoming novel, OLYMPIA KNIFE, will be available at booksellers soon, though I suggest you pre-order it straight from the publisher because you get an e-book package free with every hardcopy:Â https://store.interludepress.com/collections/olympia-knife-by-alysia-constantine
Oh, and don’t forget the upcoming book release party for OLYMPIA KNIFE at Bluestockings Bookstore in NYC on Sunday, November 5 from 7-9. There will be cotton candy and at least one straight jacket escape (maybe more, but that depends upon whether or not there’s an escape at any local hospitals).
