Author Note: I just got The Winter Soldier: Cold Front yesterday :). So to prepare myself I’m writing some soft love… because I know for a FACT Bucky would love you quietly and softly.

Summary: They to enjoy the little moments, so here’s a collection of you and Bucky being adorable :)

1. The Metal Arm:

You and Bucky were sitting on the couch, Alpine curled in between you two. You’re sketching whatever comes to mind, and Bucky is pretending to read. His arm rested awkwardly by his side, stiff, like he’s trying to hide it.

Without saying anything you place his metal arm on your lap, tracing the lines and crevasses with your finger, humming lightly. Bucky’s breath catches in his throat, “Doesn’t… doesn’t it bother you…?” You meet his eyes, giving him a small smile, “Not even a little. It’s you. All of you. That’s what I love.”

Bucky looks away, blinking fast, but a smile tugs at his face.

2. The Sweatshirt:

Bucky brings you one of his older shirts, you’ve seen him wear it countless times before, it was his old red Henley sweatshirt. You slid it on instantly, it was long at the arms, but you could still see your fingers. You grin, “It’s almost like a dress,” He tilts his head, placing a hand over his collarbone, “I figured you might… like it. You’re always getting cold.”

Later that night he finds you curled up in it, arm draped over Alpine. He doesn’t say a word, but his heart feels warm in a way it hasn’t felt since the ‘40s.

3. The Scars:

One night, you get restless and you pull off your hoodie, exposing all your Hydra scars along your arms, shoulders, chest, and your torso. You could feel Bucky’s eyes on you, growing more and more insecure.

“I hate these.”

Your words floated in the silence for a moment. Bucky replies softly, reaching out to you, “I don’t. They mean you survived. Same as mine.”

The two of you sit in silence before you lift his sleeve, exposing the faded marks on his shoulder where metal meets flesh. You kiss them, one by one.

Bucky lets out a shaky breath, resting his head on yours.

4. The ‘Safe’ Word:

Bucky sometimes flinches when you touch him unexpectedly, Hydra memories flashing. You’re quick to notice this and come up with a simple rule: before you toad him you’ll ask ‘safe?’ And he’ll not or will whisper back ‘safe.’

One night, he beats you to it— hesitant, nervous, but soft. “Safe?” You smile, instantly understanding, “Always.”

He kisses you— gentle, tentative, the softest thing either of you have ever known.

5. The Little Things:

- You braid his hair becuase he’s terrible at it.

- He’ll untie your shoelaces when you’re too tired after training.

- You’ll sing musicals/songs while he cleans his gun(s), he secretly loves it.

- He sneaks candy into your jackets pocket before missions.

- You’ll kiss his metal hand first, every time, just to remind him it’s not something he needs to hide.
