The other cyborgs were bustling about, setting the table or fending off the ones trying sneak bites early, or working on decorating for the season. Colorful lights and so much glitter they’ll be finding it for years to come. Music that was only just loud enough for them all to hear, but it was still drowned out by talking. 

Well, ‘talking’, more like arguing. 

“Jet get out of the kitchen!” Chang was yelling, at his wits end with their friend. 

Jet at least had the sense to hurry out, even as he yelled back over his shoulder, “I just wanted a taste, damn!” 

Fran and G.B. in the living room, dancing together to some music from the Nutcracker, one of the few places where their knowledge overlapped. Joe was settled on the couch holding Ivan and watching the personal performance in awe, only spurring the two performers on. Hopefully the new ballet shoes that Ashley had gotten for her would make it easier for her to indulge in her passion… 

Al, Pyunma, and G Jr were setting the table together, ensuring that everyone would have a place to sit. 

This wasn’t perfect, sure. There were a few broken ornaments in the trash and there’s been a few arguments already about how to set things up, and she wishes that their families could be there, together and whole… 

But this is her family now.
