Para los que estéis mas familiarizados con el UCM que con los cómics, bien podríais imaginarlos como los Rocket y Groot canadienses. Eugene Judd se labró una carrera como merecenario y espía que le llevó a tener que recuperar para un contrabandista un artefacto conocido como la Espada Negra de Bagdad. Al hacerse con ella, Eugene liberó al espíritu de un hechicero persa conocido como Black Razer. Para contenerlo, el soldado utilizó la Espada canalizando su propia energía vital y lo atrapó dentro de sí mismo, lo que hizo disminuir su estatura a la mitad y sufrir molestias y dolores constantes. Por contra, conservaba todas sus habilidades en lucha cuerpo a cuerpo, y las células de su cuerpo se reacondicionaron para tener unas características similares al caucho. Happy 70th birthday to John Byrne. If you read superhero comics in the late ‘70s and ‘80s, Byrne was everywhere — X-Men, Fantastic Four, Alpha Flight, The Hulk, Superman, She-Hulk, Namor. As writer/artist Byrne was never afraid to kill off, change or replace a beloved character, which didn’t always please readers, but he kept it interesting and created some of the great story arcs in the stagnation-prone superhero genre. (Chris Claremont should be mentioned as Byrne’s X-Men scripter and Terry Austin as Byrne’s classic inker.) Here’s a full-page image of the title character from “The Last Galactus Story,” Byrne’s serial that ran in Epic Illustrated in the mid-‘80s.
