Alien Raiders, Microvision (1981)
Alien Raiders
Themes: 1/5. A common theme in alien movies is “there’s something disguising as your neighbor and you’ll never know”, which is definitely one that applies here, but it’s handled so, so badly and clearly not the intent of the writers as a theme to explore.
Storytelling: 1.5/5. It’s not GOOD, but it’s not nonsense either, and I had fun. Can get occasionally ridiculous, though.
Acting: 2.5/5. It’s not good, but it could definitely be worse. Most of them were fine and some of them sucked.
Horror: 2/5. There’s the suspense you’d expect from a bad hostage movie and there’s blood and there’s aliens, what more do you want out of a shitty alien movie? Not really unique enough to warrant anything better. There wasn’t enough bloodshed to make it a good gore movie but I can’t discount the aliens drenched in blood when calculating my rating for the horror.
Personal Taste: 3.5/5. I had a lot of fun, but it’s very not good. I’m not sure if it’s actually fun or if I just watched such a flop beforehand that it seems better. About halfway through it stopped being a 5/5 and started to feel like it was taking itself a little too seriously. That being said, “my wife’s daughter is in there” has to be a top contender for lines I’ve heard in my entire life, and the credits song is such a banger. I want that wired directly into my head.
Total: 10.5/25
Chris: Alien Raiders is a sci-fi / action film with actors from 24 and Prison Break made in 2008, not bad and more enjoyable if you are familiar with the actors, a dark film about a grocery store robbery and aliens, Watch: When Free.
Richie: It wasn’t bad, I was entertained, there was some cheesy dialogue but that was ok, Watch: When Free.

Listen people I understand that the darkness improves the horror vibe or something, but I'd just like to be able to see him a bit better
