ALEX- “The school has rules Daryl, remember orientation?”

DARYL- “Oh Lord, probation? Grams is going to be mad as a wet hen in Henford!”

As he and Alex were talking, Tatsuo sat down and chimed in.

TATSUO- “It’s not the end of the world, the school gives opportunities before they expel someone.

DARYL- “Expelled?!!  He is not going to be expelled is he??”

ALEX- “That is up to him. As his RA I have to make a choice though regarding the house. He was put on academic probation, and now has been arrested. Those are both actions that require house disciplinary action. I can have him leave the house, or place him under house arrest. If I place him under house arrest then he would have to be with another house member at all times.”

TATSUO- “And if he refuses or does not follow his probation protocol, then he is expelled.”

DARYL- “Excuse me, but who invited you to this conversation?

TATSUO- “Again, not being an ass, Pence, I want to help. I will volunteer to be his “mentor” He really has no choice at this point. He either follows the rules or Britechester will expel him.”

“You've been lying just for fun.”

Almost 24 hours after Daryl assured Raquel that Chad and he were doing fine, he came home from his afternoon class and Alex stopped him as he made his way to he and Chad’s room.

DARYL- “Hey Alex how is it going? Is Chad home, yet?”

ALEX- “No, and I need to talk to you about him. I just got a call from University Police. Chad is there.”

DARYL- “Is he okay??? Why is he at the Police Station. Why did they call you? They should have contacted me if he is hurt or something.”

ALEX- “He is not hurt. Come over and sit down, I can explain everything.”

DARYL- “I really don’t want to sit down, if Chad is in some kind of trouble, would you please just tell me. I need to go down and get him and bring him home.”

ALEX- “He is staying overnight there, Daryl. Please, come sit down so I can explain?”

DARYL- “Just tell me what the hell is going on!”

ALEX- “Fine, the University Police called here, because I am the RA they asked for me. Chad was at the library and causing a public disturbance and overthrew a cart of books and overturned a table. So they arrested him, and the library is pressing charges, so he has to stay overnight.”

DARYL- “WHAT!? Why was he upset?”

ALEX- “I am not sure, Daryl, but they said he was pretty drunk.

DARYL- “Drunk?? It’s only a little after noon.”

ALEX- “That is not all, I got a call last Monday from the University counselor stating that Chad was placed on Academic probation. He has not been coming to his classes, and when he does he usually is drunk or passes out at his desk.”

DARYL- “I don’t understand, this can’t be. I mean what is going to happen??”

ALEX- “Will you come over and sit down now, and let me explain to you his options?”

August was now here and our favorite twins, Chad and Daryl had decided to get a jump start and move into the house on campus early. But it seemed as though their new house guests had the same plan! All of them were already there and somewhat settled in, when Chad and Daryl arrived, except of one of them.

They didn’t know any of the guys, or had met them prior, this was the first day they all met one another.

The first one that welcomed Daryl to the house after he and Chad moved into their assigned room was, Alex Mace, a second year student.

ALEX- “Hey, nice to meet you, I’m Alex. Pronouns are he/him”

DARYL- “Daryl, here, my brother is—”

ALEX- “Yeah, I met him so what are you majoring in and where you from?”

DARYL- “Not really settled on a major yet, creative arts for sure, writing. I am from Newcrest.”

ALEX- “You really should settle on a major as soon as possible, Daryl. Don’t want to waste your time and parent’s money taking unnecessary classes.

As Alex made his way to the sofa, another new house mate, Gage Tidwell decided to give his unwarranted advise.

GAGE- “Not everyone is as settled Alex. I am a second year as well, and I have no idea what I want to major in.”

ALEX- “Being a perpetual student.”

CHAD- (changing the subject) “So are all the housemates here?

GAGE- “Yeah, except for another newbie, he should be arriving soon, I guess.”

Alex didn’t pull any punches with Chad and explained that if he didn’t take the proposal to have Tatsuo be his “mentor” during the probation time and follow the protocols and go to AA, he could no longer live in the housing provided by the University.

CHAD- “All I did was loose my temper, A lapse in judgment for that instant. I didn’t hurt anyone.”

ALEX- “It was school property, Chad. Not to mention you already being on academic probation doesn’t help your case.”

ALEX- “So for the rest of the school year, you will be on probation. No parties, no social gatherings and Tatsuo will be your “chaperone” to any official university functions. If you show up drunk to class it is an immediate dismissal from housing, and probably the school.”

CHAD- “That sounds harsh, for overturning a cart of books.”

ALEX- “It is not just the books, Chad. You know that. You can not continue to fail all your classes or barely squeak by and expect the school to honor your boarding fees that they are currently paying at the Darkwing House. You can’t live there free if you don’t hold up your end of the contract.”

DARYL- “Chad, this is serious. I hate to say this, but once Grams and Dad get wind of this, you know what will happen there.”

CHAD- “You know what, I need to talk to Daryl alone, Alex. I need to discuss some things with him if you don’t mind and I will give you my answer.”
