Summary: "Can you move the fuck over,” David hisses into the dark, suddenly missing the lantern Patrick insisted they put out after dinner to conserve fuel.

“Oh, so sorry,” Patrick quips back, his voice low to keep from disturbing the rest of the camp because he is always so goddamn considerate. “Is my tent not to your liking? Would you like a room upgrade? We will book you a complimentary massage at the spa for the inconvenience.”

David squeezes his eyes shut to keep the tears from spilling out, because he knows Patrick is making fun of him, but yes, he really would like that. Anything to prove that his old life still exists somewhere out there. “Fine,” he whispers. “I’ll just ignore your knee digging into my back, then.”

“Great.”

“Perfect.”

Patrick goes silent, presumably able to fall asleep easily on the fucking ground in the middle of the fucking woods, not jumping out of his fucking skin at every rustle of the fucking leaves, and it’s almost worse, hearing the sounds of the forest in surround sound clear and near enough to rival his parents’ home theater.

David wishes the world would just fucking end already, and put him out of his misery.

Ugh, I was supposed to be publishing this today and probably won’t be able to, stupid writer’s block, but it’s... definitely divergent from canon 😂 

“Oh, so you’re telling me the two of you intentionally came to an orgy your ex was going to be at.”

David scoffs. “No offense, but given that we both dated Jake at the same time, I don’t really think you count as ‘an ex’ for the purposes of being at an orgy he’s organised.”

She bites down on a smirk as the meaning of David’s assumption sinks in. “I wasn’t actually talking about your ex.” She flicks her eyes over her shoulder, where Rachel is still chatting to Steven with a beer in her hand, then looks back in time to watch David’s jaw drop with unabashed delight at the same time Patrick’s whole expression freezes in confusion.

What’s your favourite piece of dialogue you wrote this year?

Oh no. This is so difficult. Dialogue is my main thing that I’m confident about so there’s a lot to choose from tbh. I’m going to take my WIP out of the running (even though it has a lot of Moira and she’s the most fun to write) and give you this from my fic I Hate Sports!
