What if Akumatization were made into a drug abuse metaphor?
Like a particularly overly emotional or emotionally constipated person keeps allowing an Akuma in and expresses their emotions loudly. Like Ladybug finds them showing multiple Akumatized forms and tries to address their problem.
Hell, maybe they even like being feared by others this way, not wanting friends in a, "If I'm a monster, then I'm a monster."
Like Chloe but not a lost cause. In fact, remembering Chloe would motivate Ladybug to "fix them."
