During her covenant story, SKK helps her take her first steps in moving on from RPK-16s betrayal and start trusting the crew on the Elmo. So she lightens up just ever so slightly after getting through to her.

The pic happens when she calls SKK by name for the first time.

Edit: I think another couple of points that are very important to mention and I really like:

- She can’t turn off her wolfs eye like AK-12 can. So to reduce all that processing power and allow herself to share her thoughts just ever so slightly more freely, she full on closes her eyes without any visual assistance. I LOVE THIS DETAIL

- Both of them chat about their shared loss of Ange for a bit and SKK’s acceptance into the wolf pack as their new CO while at the same time not being an outright replacement to who Ange was for them, and man that HURT in the best of ways. The grief still there, but so too the ability to move forward with it, not in spite of.
