āHead Clerkā is the lead Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah?? Iām sorry, thatās just a terrible title for any Aes Sedai, even for the diplomats. There are so many nameless clerks in WoT, always scurrying around and following orders, how do the Grays not find it offensive? At least they keep that sort of thing to themselves, so the other Ajahs wonāt be pointing and laughing.
Captain-General, while a bit much, true, is a significantly better title. Itās actually cool!
But now I have to know, whatās the head of the Yellows called?
Sitters of the Hall
I havenāt posted in a hot minute, but for those who started following me because of the WoT-related data analysis I was doing, I havenāt stopped! Iāve just moved it elsewhere...
I now have a column calledĀ āData? WoT Data?ā on thegreatblight.com, in which I continue my screentime deep-dives but also talk about other sort of data, like Nielsen TV ratings for the first season of the show, or some Ajah/MBTI correlations among the WoT community.
Feel free to check it out!

How will each of the Ajahs have to change in the 4th age?
Red: male channeler police brutality ajah to male channeler outreach ajah? :/ I think this project is doomed given the Red Ajahās institutional legacy but I wish Pevara the best
Green: canāt be the apocalypse prepper ajah anymore! No idea what theyāre going to do now. Maybe peaceful apocalypse prep, like taking the long view on societal/environmental issues? New weaves and channeling-related technology development (Elayneās influence?) I think people-centered exploration is the province of Greys but I could see Greens turning into scientists and engineers.
Yellow: still good, going to be very busy modernizing
Brown: also still good, thereās always a need for Browns. I see them squaring off with the Greens on who handles the ānatural scienceā research in the near future, though.
Blue: gonna keep doing their thing but maybe with more oversight? Both internally and externally.
White: if they made it this far I guess theyāll be fine, and applied metaphysics is a real thing in Wheelworld, so I would love to see some academic papers on the cleansing of saidin
Grey: gonna be busy as hell for the next 200+ years
š thanks anon
āAbolishingā the Blue Ajah
Itās hard to say just how much effect Elaida disbanding the Blue Ajah had. It isn't clear exactly when it happened, but the Blue Ajah had already fled (or else were dead). The earliest reference I can find is in Crossroads of Twilight:
... and if Elaida unseating a former Blue as Amyrlin had enraged Lelaine, Elaidaās proclamation that the Blue Ajah was disbanded had made her near-rabid. (COT: 16)
Certainly it exacerbated the division between the Aes Sedai. It gave the rebel Aes Sedai -- both Blues and anyone who thought that Elaida had crossed yet another line -- further reason to continue with their so-called rebellion, and introduced a further point of contention when both sides sat down to negotiations. But it didnāt create those divisions. They already existed.
Itās a bit like closing the stable door after the horse has already bolted.
