Airlander 10 Aircraft,

Orbital imaging company DigitalGlobe captured Airlander 10 at its test airfield in Bedfordshire, England, August 7.

The airship is the world’s largest air vehicle, spanning more than 302 feet long. It can carry more than 22,050 pounds of cargo or passengers, can stay aloft for more than two weeks, and can fly to an altitude of 16,000 feet. Airlander 10 is capable of such an extended flight due to the hybrid nature of its design. A lighter than air gas gives the airship aerostatic lift while the ship’s shape generates dynamic lift, propelling it through the air, Originally proposed in 2010 as an American military aircraft, UK-based Hybrid Air Vehicles took the project over in 2013 when the Pentagon backed out. Airlander 10 successfully flew on August 17.
