this is something that's come to my mind a few times after being around the fandom a while but as someone who suffers with ocd, bloberta is not exhibiting ocd symptoms. miss sculptham is. the difference is that bloberta is rapid cleaning to try and appease clay and get him to change and be a good, christian woman that she was taught to be / forced to be so she can fit in with being a woman. she is another piece in the show's portrayal of the patriarchy, stuck in a relationship with alcoholic, abusive man that she wants to leave but knows she can't because it could ruin her reputation. she does not have ocd.
miss sculptham exhibits true ocd. her constant checking of the lock, her constant need to reuse the hanger. her constant self reassurance to check and see if she still loves her sexual assaulter. that's TRUE ocd. people saying bloberta has ocd just because she loves to clean pushes the toxic narrative that ocd has and limits actual understanding of how the disorder acts / works / is, etc. cleanliness ocd is actually quite rare, and the real ocd's are much more taboo. do some research before slapping a label onto someone just because they act a certain way.
