Dear, Authors.
Saying your book is LGBTQ+ but both main characters are cishet and the only queer characters are background or barely mentioned means that it is not LGBTQ+ and just (yet another) straight romance. The LGBTQ+ community is not here for you to gain brownie points for putting us in the background. Make us main characters or don’t write us at all.

Just got an email with instructions for the hair and makeup for our production of Roméo et Juliette, and this is in it:
Ok, they want us in makeup. Probably nude-colored lips, brown eyeshadow, and no eyeliner or minimal brown eyeliner. Maybe no blush. Fairly Standard for stage... We want people to know we have faces after all, and not turn into blank white sheets from the lighting!
And then...
WHY WHY WHY? If it's for lighting why aren't the men ALLOWED to wear makeup to keep their faces 3 dimensional?
More importantly for me: I NEVER wear makeup UNLESS I'm on stage, for lighting purposes, because it makes me dysphoric. Am I allowed to not wear makeup? I wonder if I can get away with it...
