For the prompt request, how about your take on the Miguel and Hawk hang out in Mexico together trope lol?
âDo I even wanna know how you got your hands on these?â asked Miguel, accepting a cold beer from the outstretched hand.
Hawk simply smirked and wagged his eyebrows. âHeh, I have my ways.â
Miguel shook his head, deciding not to press the matter. Sometimes, with Hawk, ignorance was bliss after all. He took a sip and closed his eyes, enjoying the early afternoon sun.
In lieu of beach towels, theyâd managed to sneak the provided bath towels out of the motel. It was their first full day since Hawk had arrived and theyâd spent nearly every waking minute at the beach.
When heâd headed down to Mexico, heâd done so without much of a plan. All heâd known is that he just needed to go and get away from all the bullshit facing him in the San Fernando Valley. Here, people could care less about karate. There was no pressure on him to fight, no expectations for him to live up to, no confusing authority figures with their conflicting advice. And after the year heâd had? That felt really fucking good.
âExactly how long do you plan on hiding out down here?â asked Eli, whoâd already finished most of his beer and was now laying down on his towel. The hawk tattoo taking over his back still sported its purple mohawk. Miguel wondered whether or not that was driving his friend crazy, the fact that the birdâs hairstyle no longer matched his own. But then, considering what had happened the last time he was at the tattoo parlor, maybe Hawk wasnât so keen on going back.
Miguel shrugged. At his lack of verbal response, Hawk cracked one eye open to stare up at him and raised his eyebrow, waiting.
âI dunno. I didnât come up with some strategic plan, I just needed to get away. Besides, thatâs always been more of your M.O. anyways.â
Eli grinned in response, mischief sparking behind his eyes. ââBout time you recognized, El Serpiente.â
Rolling his eyes, Miguel chugged the rest of his beer before jumping up, wincing slightly at the remaining soreness in his back. âIâm gonna go for another dip, you coming?â
Hawk joined him and the pair walked out into the ocean. Miguel dove beneath a wave and popped up on the other side, shaking the water from his hair.
âDude, what are you waiting for?â called Miguel. âItâs easier if you just duck all the way under.â
Hawk waved him off, continuing to wade out slowly. A slow mischievous grin appeared on Miguelâs face as he crept closer and splashed his friend, sending a huge spray of water in Eliâs direction.
Hawk ducked, hands instinctively flying up to shield his mohawk before realizing there was nothing there. âFuck it,â he yelled in response, charging and tackling Miguel into the oncoming wave.
