So, a little introduction:
Hello, I am a graduate student! I have also been a big fan of Creepypasta--and scary stories in general--since I was a teenager.
Right now, I am in a Master’s program for Rhetoric/Composition Studies. (In fact, my second semester just started a couple weeks ago.) Lately, I have been thinking a lot about the career I want to build from this degree--a career in College/Adult Education, especially in regards to literacy--and what research I can do to basically “make my mark” in this field. I have also been thinking a lot about affinity spaces, and the ways they can impact collaborative writing and composition courses.
Affinity Space -- a place, either virtual or physical, where informal learning takes place; most people who interact with each other in these spaces share common interests and/or engage in a common activity.
Some examples of such places include: online forums, special interest conventions/conferences, blog sites, and LARP sessions.
(If you are interested, please research James Paul Gee; he’s basically the poster child for this scholarship. He has also written on Video Games.)
There is a lot more to say on this topic, and I’d highly recommend researching on it because it’s all pretty damn cool; but I’m not here to just discuss that. I have a lot more on my mind right now, and I’m trying to keep it as concise and organized as possible.
Hence, why there is a [Part 2] of this post.
