As many of you know who have been following my video posts, I recorded hundreds of interviews in 1989 for a television project. This public school teacher from Farmville Virginia is speaking specifically about the experiences he encountered there, around the time of Brown versus Board of Education, integrating school systems.

Prince Edward County, his County, chose to close the public schools for five years rather than integrate. He was a schoolteacher and proud of it. Shocked by what occurred. Not certain that he was completely in favor of integration as it was being experienced by him and others in Virginia at that time. I appreciated his honesty and his clarity.

The Supreme Court have turned back the clock on modern gender science and reintroduced the segregational logic of the Plessy v. Ferguson, an 1896 ruling which legally justified “separate but equal” facilities for blacks and whites.

Justice Kavanaugh speaking for the majority stated:

“They spend extraordinary time and effort to train in the heat and in the cold, to work out early in the morning and late at night, to get a little faster, to become a little stronger, to jump a little higher, to shoot a little better, to watch a little more video, to make the lonely journey back from an A.C.L. tear, to scrap for playing time, to start, to win the game, to win a championship, to hang a banner, to bring home a medal, to be all-tournament, all-County, all-State or all-American … Whether the star of the team or the last player on the bench, they form lifelong friendships and lifetime memories.”

His opinion takes on a different light if you substitute white male athletes for biological female ones in his argument.

According to sociologist Charles E. Hurst :

“Courts often confuse sex, gender, and sexual orientation, and confuse them in a way that results in denying the rights not only of gays and lesbians, but also of those who do not present themselves or act in a manner traditionally expected of their sex”.

In 1953, a 23-year-old Black woman named Louise went into labor in Alabama. Her husband called an ambulance. The ambulance driver said:”We don’t transport coloreds.” Louise’s husband drove her. She gave birth in the back seat. She almost died. Louise said: “No Black mother gives birth in a back seat because of me.” She started a volunteer ambulance service. She recruited Black drivers. She bought a used hearse and painted it white. Her service ran for 30 years. They transported 500 pregnant Black women to hospitals. No one gave birth in a back seat. In 1985, the ambulance company that rejected her went out of business. Louise bought their ambulances at auction. She said: “Their ambulances carry Black mothers now. That is not revenge. That is a ride.” Louise died in 1995. Her hearse-ambulance is in a museum. Based on real stories of Black volunteer ambulance services during segregation.
