(Kind of the Neytiri and Varang scene)
*While Quaritch would come down to the Mangkwan village to be with Varang Lyle would accompany him just in case. He had a tent set up in the village. Inside wasn't anything fancy. He had a cot to sleep on with a blanket and pillow that that was it. It wasn't ideal but he wasn't here for comfort. Lyle was asleep on his cot. A backpack filled with military equipment along with his vest and gun lay next to him for easy access. Lyle was trained to sleep light. Especially in places like this. Lyle had been asleep for hours at this point. He'd had an exhausting day so he was a little more knocked out the than usual. The quiet noise of a zipper could be heard. Once. Then twice. Soft barely noticeable footsteps. Still asleep his ears twitch. Suddenly there's a cold feeling on his neck. Shit. His eyes open. Standing above him is you with your hunting knife held to his kneck.*
"You crazy bitch."
(Small fanfiction idea I might write more but right now I'm just gonna write down what I already have in mind. Fyi haven't watched afaa since it came out so I willget things wrong deal with it. Also I've never written fanfiction before.)
*Varang and Quaritch where together doing Eywa knows what. Lyle made his way through out the Mangkwan village taking mental notes of his surroundings. Unknown to him he had a certain Mangkwan female following him. He finds himself staring down a na'vi skull hung from a spear in the ground.*
"Whats wrong with these people...."
*He finds himself muttering. His gun hangs at his side as he crosses his arms. As he stands he feels movement at his sside. He turns his head and sees you. Your hands are all over his gun.*
"What're you doing princess? You know what that could do to you?"
*He asks as he moves slightly so your hands are no longer on his weapon.*
"I know what it does sky man."
*You look at him with a smirk. You look over his body. His tactical gear, his tattoos, his large body. You reach a hand out to touch him but he shifts slightly as you do.*
"You can come closer....I don't bite. You look tasty but I won't."
*He gives a half scoff have laugh at your words.*
"I'm not scared of you kitty."
"You should be."
(OKAY THAT'S ALL I WANNA WRITE RN IT'S 3AM FOR ME RN❤️LIKE AND REBLOG IF YOU LIKED IT)
Avatar x S/O with absolutely zero stealth skills
Neteyam
• Neteyam notices it immediately the first time you try to sneak up on him.
• He hears a branch snap.
• Then another branch snap.
• Then a whispered, “Ow.”
• Then something falls over.
• By the time you reach him, he’s already turned around and is trying not to laugh.
• You still dramatically yell, “BOO!”
• He pretends to be startled anyway because he appreciates the effort.
• Whenever you attempt stealth during hunting trips, he has to gently remind you that prey can hear you from half the forest away.
- “I know you’re trying your best…”
- “That sounded like an entire herd of hexapedes running through the bushes.”
• Despite teasing you, he finds it incredibly endearing.
• If someone else makes fun of your lack of stealth, he’s immediately defending you.
- “Not everyone needs to be a scout.”
• Secretly, he likes that he can always tell when you’re nearby.
Lo’ak
• Lo’ak has absolutely no right to laugh, yet he laughs the hardest.
• The two of you together are a disaster.
• You try sneaking through the forest.
• He hears you trip over a root, then run into a tree.
- “How?!”
- “I DON’T KNOW!”
• He ends up doubled over laughing while helping you up.
• Sometimes he’ll challenge you to stealth competitions.
• You lose every single time. Spectacularly.
• He once watched you try hiding behind a tree that was thinner than your shoulders.
• You genuinely thought it worked.
• Lo’ak couldn’t breathe from laughing.
• What makes him adore you even more is how confident you remain despite overwhelming evidence that you are terrible at sneaking.
- “This time I’ll get you.”
- “No, you won’t.”
- “You’re right.”
Kiri
• Kiri usually knows you’re coming before you even arrive.
• Not because she’s listening.
• Because the forest itself practically announces your location.
• A startled animal runs by, something crashes, birds take off into the sky.
• Kiri just sighs.
- “They’re nearby.”
• Every attempt to surprise her fails instantly.
• One time you spent twenty minutes trying to sneak up behind her.
• The moment you reached her:
- “Hello.”
• You nearly jumped out of your skin.
- “HOW DID YOU KNOW?”
• “You stepped on every stick between here and the village.”
• She’s endlessly patient about it.
• She’ll actually help teach you quieter ways to move.
• Unfortunately, your success rate remains terrible.
• She never gets frustrated though.
• Instead she finds your determination adorable.
• The way you proudly announce, “I was being sneaky!” after causing enough noise to wake an entire clan always makes her smile.
Tsireya
• Tsireya is far too sweet to make fun of you.
• At least not much.
• Every failed attempt is met with affectionate giggling.
• You once tried sneaking up on her while she was gathering shells.
• She heard you splashing from several meters away.
• Then heard you stumble.
• Then heard you whisper, “Don’t look.”
• She was already smiling before you even reached her.
- “Were you trying to surprise me?”
- “…No.”
- “Really?”
- “…Maybe.”
• She thinks it’s adorable that you keep trying.
• Whenever you hide, she intentionally takes longer to “find” you.
• Not because you’re good at hiding.
• Because she wants you to feel successful for once.
• Tsireya is your biggest supporter.
• Even if your stealth skills are catastrophically bad.
• She’ll still tell everyone, “They’ve improved!”
• Whether that’s true or not is highly debatable.
Ao’nung
• Ao’nung notices immediately. Every. Single. Time.
• The problem is that he enjoys watching the attempt unfold.
• So he doesn’t say anything.
• He’ll hear you approaching from a ridiculous distance away.
• Then pretend not to notice.
• Just to see how far you’ll get.
• He once listened to you accidentally kick three rocks, trip twice, and crash into the water.
• You still thought you were hidden.
• Ao’nung was fighting for his life trying not to laugh.
• Eventually you’ll jump out.
- “Aha!”
• He immediately bursts into laughter.
- “You heard me?”
- “From the beginning.”
- “THE BEGINNING?”
- “The very beginning.”
• His teasing is relentless.
• Yet he’s secretly impressed by your confidence.
• Most people would give up after failing that many times.
• Not you. You’re committed. And honestly?
• He finds that determination ridiculously charming.
• Sometimes he’ll even let you think you succeeded.
• But only because seeing how proud you get is worth it.

Malignity.
(An intense desire to see someone else suffer or fail, often stemming from jealousy.)
2049
•°_____________________________________°•
She circled him in measured steps. Letting the clangs of spears stretch thin between them. Her free fingers reached out and prodded. No softness in it. She saw no point in that.
She caught his tail, wound it around her hand, felt how little weight it carried. Then let it slip free. It whipped side to side, like a lashing rope.
The blunt end of her spear came down next. Tapping his leg. Just above the knee. Once, twice. Watching his balance shift. Seeing if he held. The way the current tested stones, not to break it, just to see if it would.
She copied her mother without meaning to. The way Sa'nok had done when the Sullys first arrived. Her hand closed around his forearm. She could feel the shape of his bone through the skin. No muscle to waste. No excess.
She slid down to his hand, studying it. Holding it open on her palm. Fingers long and narrow, slim and seemingly powerless. Noting they were cold against her own, colder than they should be in this heat.
Not a spearman’s hands, maybe a hunter’s. The skin had a few light scars, mapped with soft cuts, burns and the calluses that came from years of tugging at a bow string, salt dried into the fine lines of his palm.
His hand flexed. Sudden and sharp. Tendons tensing under his skin. His hand came alive in her grip.
Her gaze shot up.
His eyes bore into hers. She could see the dark gold ring around his pupils.
His brows were drawn together. Not angry, she decided. Not yet at least. Just focused. The way someone looks when they’re trying to see the bottom of murky water.
Heat crawled to her ears in irritation. She didn’t like being looked at like that.
She dropped his hand. Tossed it back to him like it burned, like the cold of it had bitten her. She continued circling. Eyes down, on his feet. The way his weight shifted to stay facing her.
The spear rested against her palm like an old habit, its weight guiding each step. Her eyes never left him, fixed in a keen gaze. Reading the change in his shoulders before his feet moved.
Neteyam held the spear awkwardly. Both hands choked around the middle of the shaft, knuckles pale. Trying to balance a thing that wanted to tip forward and pull him down with it.
A sharp, almost imperceptible smile cut across her lips as she watched him struggle.
“Are you going to explain anything to me?” he questioned.
Feet shuffling on the sand in small, uneven pivots. Turning where he stood. Trying to focus on the spear and her at once. Failing at both.
“I think you could benefit from a more hands-on training,” she spoke. Voice honeyed, sickly sweet. Poisoned.
She struck, her spear a pincer serpent's swift bite.
He dodged. A big, graceless step to the side. Her spear hit the ground with force. The impact traveled up, buzzing through her arms like a struck bell.
She anticipated it, weight shifting to the other foot. Hips twisting, the spear coming with her. Hitting him with the length of it. Cracking it against his ribs.
He hissed through his teeth, hand flying to the spot.
"Is this just an excuse to hit me?"
She laughed, a low, throaty sound. Taking a few steps back, giving him room to breathe.
"Maybe."
He adjusted, grip lowering. Closer to matching hers. He lunged forward, body leading, spear following suit.
She met it. Wood kissed wood and slid down to pin his shaft to the sand, locking it with her own. He strained to pull it free.
“You fight like it is separate from yourself. Not something you are,” She spat. “It is an extension. Treat it like bone. It is not a bow, you cannot hide behind a bush and strike."
She lifted her spear. Neteyam came free with a jerk. He stood, rolling his shoulders then swung upwards in a means of knocking hers out of her hold.
Once again she saw it before his arms moved. The bottom of her spear flicked out, whacking his fingers, hard.
He yelped, dropping the tukru. Wringing his hands to soothe the pain, cradling it against his chest.
“Your spear should move before your body,” she corrected, circling again. "Your feet move last, I can read you like spilled ink."
He growled, snatching up the tukru. Pushing through, with his leading hand, arms locked straight. All force, no finesse.
She directed hers, it collided with his own. They met with a crack loud enough that she thought the spears would break. They both held, stances wide, breath sharp between them.
Her spear flicked, wrapping around his and pushing forward. Forcing his hands to bend unnaturally till they gave way. Landing on the sand with a dull thud.
She could tell he was getting frustrated, seemingly unfamiliar with being clumsy.
But he learned fast. Movements becoming more fluid. Their spears met in a rhythm. Strike, block, parry, reset. He was still a fraction too slow when she changed tempo. She feinted low, then brought the shaft down on his leg, his eyes flashed with surprise.
"The bigger movements you make, the more of you I can hit." She reprimanded. Breath starting to roughen, circling him again, keeping distance.
He swung. She dropped. Spear sweeping low across the sand, taking his feet out from under him.
The air went tight. The sand beneath held the marks of their fight, arcs and scuffs, a silent witness to the dance of spears and flesh.
She turned her back on him, spear resting on her shoulders, a fleeting moment of arrogance as she allowed him to rise to his feet.
"Stay on your path, forest boy. Ward the spear off of its. Keep it between you and what means t-"
Pain bloomed before she finished speaking. A bright, hot sting across her arm. His spear had struck a swift kiss to the soft flesh. The cut blooming like a dark flower.
Her hand wrapped around it, fingers coming away sticky, blood shadowy against her teal skin. She turned, teeth bared, snarl on her lips. He met her gaze, eyes wide, brow ridges raised.
Ao’wahi’s laugh boomed across the yard. He clapped.
"Good work, boy!"
Then his eyes cut to her, stern as weathered wood.
"You never turn your back on an opponent, nor underestimate them, Lani. That is not pride, that is foolishness."
Some of the other warriors strayed from their training. Staring from the precipice. Unease crawled under her skin. He was adapting too quickly. Too easily.
Her gaze settled on the cummerbund around his abdomen again. A symbol of his status as a warrior. A badge of honor worn proudly on his torso. He is a warrior and he was another challenge.
Rage took over.
She rushed forward, carelessly, whipping her spear in wild arcs in any direction she saw fit. Cutting air, sand and skin wherever it landed.
Each hit felt good and reckless.
She was a whirlwind, spear an extension of her malice. He was a stone, unmoving, unyielding. Anger left her vulnerable but he did not attempt to land a single hit.
It was a blur, sand kicked up, wood cracked on wood, spears clashing, bodies moving in a frenzy of motion.
Blood pumped through her body, thudding in her hands. Her grip tightened around the length till the wood bit into her palm.
Her arms were burning. Not from his strikes but her own. The spear felt heavier each time she lifted it. She hated this. Hated the way her breath started to fray before his did. The way her legs moved like she was pushing through a current he couldn’t feel.
She’d spent too many years learning how to hide this. Her vision pinched at the edges. Dusk coming on when the sun was still high.
She swung and missed, spear almost slipping free from her grasp. She couldn’t hide the way her chest was over working.
She swore she saw sympathy in his gaze.
Enough of this!
She brought the spear down with all her weight. He caught it on the shaft, a horizon he refused to let fall.
She pushed down. He slid back, feet losing purchase in the sand. Inching backwards. She saw the opportunity. Hooked his ankle with her foot. Together they fell.
She was on him in an instant. The length of her spear pressed to his throat. He gasped, thrashing to shove her off. She pushed down harder. His feet found purchase on her stomach, flipping her over his body. She landed hard, air knocked from her lungs.
She clutched her side, sucking in a ragged breath.
She did not give time to recover, grabbing the nearest tossed spear. It was yanked from her hands before she could lift it, stumbling back, chest heaving.
She spun, fury in her eyes. Finding herself face to face with Ao’wahi. He towered over her, a mountain of scarred skin and thin patience.
“Enough!”
He tossed the spear too far for her to reach, like taking a toy from a child.
"What is wrong with you?"
He asked quietly, trying to save her the embarrassment. Disappointment softened the words which only seemed to worsen it.
She breathed heavily, ears ringing, hands shaking.
“This is his first time training with us,” Ao’wahi went on a gentle rebuke. “Show him some compassion.”
"A warrior should not show mercy," she spat, voice louder than she intended.
“He is not your enemy,” Ao’wahi spoke. “This is not a battle.”
She swallowed. He took her arm, turned it to inspect the cut. Blood had dried at the edges.
"Go see the healers."
“I am fine.” she spat.
“Kä,” he commanded. “I will be sure to tell your father of this.”
Her fists clenched until her knuckles went white. Then the fight drained out of her. Eyes dropping, shame hot on her face.
She left the training grounds, practically dragging her shadow through the sand. The others avoided her gaze, pretending to busy themselves with their training.
As if that would make her humiliation smaller.
Too caught up in the feeling of her stomach lodging itself in her throat, she didn't focus on the steps that followed her to the walkways.
A hand wrapped around her forearm.
"Are you alright?" Neteyam spoke, gaze flickering between her eyes.
She did not answer, sight fixed downwards. He dipped his head to try and catch her gaze.
"I am sorry I cut you. I thought you would move before I could even get close," he spoke. Gentle, honest.
She blinked. An apology. She could feel her ire bubbling to the surface once again.
"Does it hurt?" He asked, trying to assess her wound.
She yanked her arm from his grip.
"Do not apologize to me, I do not want your pity," she scoffed, a bitter sound. Back a rigid line. A warrior's pride holding her up.
"It is not pity." He held up his hands, a placating gesture.
"Then what else is it?"
"Concern," he stated, simple. Like he was naming the color of the sky.
“You won, forest boy…now leave me be.”
She marched away, leaving him behind. Head held high, a solitary shape against the fading daylight but her chest felt hollow.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. To shake the feelings of inadequacy that made home in her ribs. They lingered, a constant reminder of her shortcomings.
She would not go to the healers. Would not tend to her wound. She would allow it to burn, scar, remind her of her foolish, childish act.
She could not let her emotions get the better of her again. She wanted to be what her people needed. Stone, not storm.
And later she would face her father and his quiet disappointment, that would cut deeper than any spear.

❀My son?…he is perfect❀
Pairing/content: romantic Quaritch x Mangkwan!Reader, familial Spider x Mangkwan!Reader. Quaritch introduces his new/gifted mate to his son-expecting the worse but being met with the best
Spoilers/notes: feed the voices feed the voices feed the voices. I can’t resist anymore I MUST
•it had been mere weeks after you and Quaritch officially mated with Varang’s blessing. he cant lie and say he's not enjoyed it ❀
•in recent days his son,Spider, had been captured again under his watch only to be carted off for test after test because he was able to breathe Pandora’s air without choking on it-from what he's heard and been able to see his boy has been giving them hell ❀
•at first he wasn't sure how to explain that the son he's talked about isn't na’vi at all but some newly mutated human from a situation ship he had when he was human ❀
•he had expected hostility or disgust or even outright hatred but not this ❀
•not you sitting in your shared yurt weaving and carving gifts for a boy you've never met insisting “i cannot meet my son without gifts-they need to be perfect ma Miles”❀
•from armbands to chokers to loincloths you were more than ready to spoil your new son rotten from the second you lay eyes on him ❀
•“Sugar, not that he wouldn't appreciate it-but ain't this a bit much? might overwhelm him off the jump” only his words fall on deaf ears as you work on fixing meals safe for consumption and his own sleeping spot in the yurt-he doesn't even want to start explaining how the chances of the science pukes letting him out of their sights is near impossible ❀
•but you look so happy. such genuine laughter and smiles as you both sit at the fire in your shared home, your even more affectionate with him since he brought up the possibility of bringing you on base to meet Spider face to face, looking at him like he strung up the stars for you ❀
•Varang had lightly mentioned you'd lost a child when your hometree burned, that you lost your mate. the second Varang had showed him off to you like a prized pony it had been infatuation at first site for you ❀
•he was strong, provided immensely for the clan, already had a child of his own, he was handsome it truly went on and on. if wasn't such a hardened bastard he probably would've been blushing as Varang went on the more and more you seemed to obsess over him ❀
•he cant lie that he was flattered by how into him you were (he likes em crazy…same bro-who said that??) ❀
•Once the clan was moved to live on base it became harder and harder to keep your enthusiasm at bay ❀
•You’d scuttle back and forth the new tent with a vigor he’d had yet to see before ❀
•The idea that your new son was merely a building away ramped up your ministrations ten fold ❀
•So when he finally brought you to where Spider was being held he knew the hell fire that would occur when you found out your boy was attacked by all manner of tubes, or ‘plastic vines’ as you called them, that were hooked up and into him all while he was poked and prodded like some display rather than a living thing… ❀
•He knew you wouldn’t be happy but he wasn’t expecting just how willing you were to straight up break the equipment ❀
•Spider had been escorted back to his ‘room’ which was little more than an interrogation room with a glass window between him and those white coats. But he could see when Quaritch entered with you in tow ❀
•You stood out like a silver thorn in a bed of feathers. White, red and black while dressed in points and spikes with a basket on your hip as you stood tall beside his technically dad ❀
•You were looking to and throw with those wide eyes of your (acting like you hadn’t tore multiple wires and tubes apart when the Colonel told you what they were used for) all while pawing at Quaritch whispering to him growing more and more insistent while he spoke to the scientists ❀
•He couldn’t hear what was said but from how he gestured to you with his head when talking to them and how your stared at them unblinkingly with a barely concealed hiss on your lips he could tell it must’ve had something to do with him when the doctors stood down and aside ❀
•You practically skipped after Quaritch, his hand on your hip when he guided you to Spider’s room, with your tail whipped back and forth as the door opened with a quiet swish ❀
•He instinctively placed himself so the table was between him and you two but that did little since you immediately hopped on the table and crouch hop/walk towards him until you jumped down next to him with what he could only describe as a joyous grin ❀
•Quaritch had tried to grab your arm to stop you but uhhh…yea no you were gone the second his hand left your hip to close the door ❀
•Setting the basket down on the table quickly your hands came up to his face-flinching and closing his eyes by habit he prepared for literally anything else except what you did ❀
•Your fingers first grazed his cheeks so lightly he almost didn’t feel them, then your palms slid to cradle his face so gently. Your hold was…kind. Sweet almost ❀
•When he hesitantly opened his eyes he was met with your watery ones and your smile as you moved your head around to look at him from every angle-like he was something beautiful ❀
•“Ma itan” your voice came out low and fragile, bringing one hand from his face to your mouth covering it. “Oh-you are beautiful”❀
•He felt confused until Quaritch spoke up with a groan when he sat himself on the edge of the table near the pair your “meet your stepmom kid.long story”❀
•Spider didn’t have a chance to snap at his dad before you turned your attention to the basket you had brought-Quaritch stepped out with a “you two get bonding. The white coats ain’t gonna be happy bout this” and the door closed in his wake ❀
•You had a hum in your throat as you pulled out what looked and smelled like jerky of some sort, you pushed it into his hands-he hesitated to eat it worried about what kind of meat it was ❀
•“Angtsik ma itan-hunted myself. Eat eat, they do not feed you right-look at them” you hissed and snapped at the air with a swish of your head in the direction of the window “small and weak. They do not feed you-“you turned your eyes back to him as he took a hesitant bite but quickly took more, thankfull for some actual flavour outside of the god awful rations he was given ❀
•“you are strong-growing. You need the right food-stupid tiny men. The ones in those metal skeletons-would not let me bring you a proper meal. Tch-stupid. Jerky was easy to hide” he just stared at you as you spoke in chopped English. You were most certainly missing a couple pebbles short of a river bank but…❀
•You weren’t malicious ❀
•He could see it in your eyes, your smile and how you ghosted your hand over his face but not quite touching him ❀
•“You will enjoy your home-your bed is already in the perfect spot. Not to close to fire but not to far from entrance, you will not overheat or catch a chill” ❀
•He did scoff at that “getting them to let me out of here is ätxäle si palulukanur tsnì smarit livonu (asking a thanator to release its prey/a futile attempt)” at his grumbling you tilted your head with a furrow on your face ❀
•“I kill them?” He was caught off guard by how genuine the question was-like you had offered him the larger cut of meat at dinner-he coughed on his snack making you lurch forward to rub his back ❀
•“No-no no, that wouldn’t uh-I mean your tsahìk wouldn’t be happy with you making waves with the humans right?” That got you on board (however reluctant) “hmm. You are right…ah-you are so smart, you will make a brilliant warrior” your apparently spout mood evaporated like smoke into the air as you cradled his face once more ❀
•The moment was broken by the door opening again, there stood Quaritch with a couple anxious looking scientists tailing him “alright sugar, time to split” you let out an offended noise “I have barely spoken to him! I still have not asked how he would like his paint-“ you cur yourself off when a scientist made the stupid move to grab Spider by the arm ❀
•The pair of you hissed at them, one more intimidating than the other though not by much, you lurched forward and the only thing that saved the idiot was Miles just valley being able to grab your arm to pull you back “oookay-easy spitfire. We’ll come back again tomorrow, how’s that sound?” One of the white coats looked like they wanted to say something against him but the already agitated Mangkwan woman who looked moments away from wrenching herself out the Colonel’s hold and mawling one of them was enough to keep their mouths shut tight ❀
•Back in your shared tent you were laying on Quaritch’s chest purring and rubbing your face against his neck, he must’ve earned some brownie points in getting you that meeting and promising another so soon ❀
•Spider sat on the table in his ‘room’…it wasn’t so cold now he had the cloak you had made for him. It was surprisingly soft and had a faint smell of smoke and burnt wood ❀
•It felt safe. ❀
•He laid down under the table with the blanket you had woven and for the first time since he was captured…he actually slept without waking up at the smallest noise ❀

hii!!! i know this isn’t the update the people wanted but i think im going to put my fic on hold 😞 at least until A3 is out on streaming and until i’m no longer super busy. even before i release new chapters i may go back and edit old chapters. as i said in my update im graduating this year, trying to work a little more to save up for concert merch and my tattoo, and on top of all that the kitchen and living room is being redone and i have to focus on the last few months of school work and among other thing. thank you for reading and being understanding and ik its a little frustrating not having the next chapter out.
