So it just occurred to me...(Adolly update)
After talking with some friends @tinkerh377 , @plotdesigner , @xximmortalkissxx, also got this suggestion a LONG while back from @greenleaf4stuff
It occurred to me that they are all indeed correct!!! Thank you friends for bouncing ideas with me💖💖💖 tagging y'all cause I can't take the credit for this idea tbh.
Let me get to the point. metal and rubber chainmail STILL may not be flexible enough for Adolly's body. What I mean is the metal may bunch up around his arm joints, thus, obstructing his range of motion in his clothes. THAT MEANS NO CUTE POSES... I can't have that! Actual chainmail also will add too much bulk and prevent his chest plate and gauntlet from being added to his outfit. Too many thick layers will NOT work out.
That's where talking to my friends comes in! Talking to them helped me find a better alternative to get what I needed done!
Crochet is my answer!! Now y'all, I am NOT even a novice with anything related to yarn. I shed it! I make confetti bits with yarn. But I decided not to use yarn. No no! Instead I will be using lace weight threads! I likely could manage because it's not yarn!
Yes technically his chainmail will be a glorified doilie. But! He deserves it. It will be frustrating because I have to learn this skill. However I imagine it will be worth it!!!
Here's the video I'll be using for the main bulk of it. I could probably alter the pattern to be smaller if need be
I'll use this tutorial to add some shredded looking spots on the edges of his chainmail. I can make it separately and sew the pieces together.⬇️
If I use a black thread with metallic flakes strung through it, that should look pretty good!
