Life update!!

I just finished the Fall semester of my 3rd year of my doctorate, gave a degree recital last weekend and took a 6 hour written qualification exam (which I passed!!) two days later. Got dumped about 2 weeks ago before all of this was happening but I was very actively stressed and preparing for them, so that sucked but I’m doing good!

I told my class I play GTA (I did NOT and will NOT tell them my gamer tag because they will connect that with my fanfiction and Tumblr which is a big old NOPE) because a group read an evaluation essay on RDR2 by a former student.

Hi everyone! Thank you for taking the time to look at this post. I means so much to me.

This isn’t easy for me, but I want to be open in asking for help— so I’ll try to keep this short.

I’ve been working as an Adjunct Professor for the past year and a half. While I am so grateful for the opportunity to teach what i love, it’s by no means as stable as I’d like for it to be. This summer my workload was cut significantly short. I thought I would be okay but it seems that I won’t have enough to pay my bills in the summer. Instead of being paid between $700-900 per class, I’m only getting paid 300 for ONE class. This is not nearly enough to even pay rent or my basic necessities, and I’m desperate for help.

Because I’ll be more full time in the fall (starting September), I cannot get a temporary job at the moment, as I would only be able to work for a month and a half. I’m here to ask for some help. Any amount would help me pay the following:

-rent ($400/ month) - groceries and toiletries (about $200/month) - credit card bills (can vary between $30-$70/month) - Educational expenses (between $200-$300)

Overall, these expenses would round up to about $1000 in additional expenses. I would have such a peace of mind and feel safe and secure in the summer. I will be able to focus more on teaching my students and less time trying to hustle for additional money (which will take my focus away from my students and hurt them in the long run). I understand that a lot of tumblr users are students, but professors are also struggling too and the universities don’t pay us a whole lot.
