Sasuke, at dinner for the first time without Itachi, on the edge of a meltdown: hm? Mikito: Oh, Fugaku, what’s the harm? It’s just us.

Fugaku: The noise is annoying and unbecoming, Mikito- we can’t let him have bad habits.

Mikito: Hm...Ok. Well, he still needs to move- to alliviate stress. It’s only healthy, for a growing boy.

Sasuke, tapping a little quieter: =/

Fugaku: .....Fine. As long as I can’t hear it or feel it, I will allow it. Be wise, boy.

Sasuke, stims for the noise primarily not because he has to move, but doesn’t want to argue for fear of having movement taken away too cause it’s better then nothing: ....hn....

Mikito: See! =) We just need Open Communication!

Sasuke, nodding, tapping himself on the ear so he hears it but no one else does: mmhm.

Fugaku: tch. 

Like, Kakashi has been living in the real adult world for years and thus has at least pretended to pick up sarcasm, but he also uses it mainly to overcompensate for the fact that a lot of sarcasm goes over his head oops. Luckily he got the reputation of a no-fun-no-nonsense ANBU captain, so when he has deadpan reactions to sarcastic comments or jokes it’s seen as him being an asshole who doesn’t want to indulge his subordinates instead of a dumbass that doesn’t even know when sarcasm is being used half the time. To this day, he always gets a pang of pride when he recognizes and returns Sarcasm.

This is actually a big part of why Gai and Tenzo are the easiest people by far for him to get along with! Gai exagerates things, sure, but that’s comperitively really easy to follow, and the man can be just as bad about getting Sarcasm as Kakshi is. Same goes for Tenzo, the ROOT baby that was never properly socialized and doesn’t get idioms because he was never exposed to them. Tenzo’s face lights up every time he gets a sarcastic comment, and Kakashi can’t stop himself from smiling under his mask every time because he so gets that feel.

Anyway, getting Team Seven is a damn weight off of his shoulders in this way. 

Sasuke, poor kid, was born and raised an Uchiha until he was 8, and the only humor most Uchiha have is dry, sarcastic wit. Some of the Uchiha kids would laugh at him and call him dumb when he didn’t get a joke and he’d run crying to Itachi, who outright banned Shisui and Izumi from being sarcastic around Sasuke. Because of this, Sasuke can’t make a joke to save his life half of the time, and raising himself in basically-isolation with a major hyperfixation on fratricide and nothing else did Not help him here either.

Then we have Naruto, who did raise himself, and who kids wouldn’t talk to anyway. Not getting sarcasm was really just another drop in the bucket of things he was called dumb for, and he didn’t care all that much- he just thought Sarcasm was dumb and blew raspberries at people whenever they mocked him for not getting it.

Sakura, being a total perfectionist, is the best out of the four of them- she made flashcards.she developed a cirriculum. She understood sarcasm out of spite, and it might take her a few seconds to process it and run it through her 12 mental checklists, but she will understand and respond to sarcasm and idioms 78% of the time. She still finds them tedious and annoying and frustrating when she’s not making the jokes, but she’s the teams Sarcasm Translator. and has also made back up flash cards for them if/when they’re interested (Kakashi shares his set with Tenzo)

But, anyway, they all feed off of each other here. Sarcasm is basically banned on Team Seven as an unwritten and unspoken rule that they all eagerly obey. This makes them lowkey unbearable to other teams, because when they’re in a team setting they aren’t used to even trying to look for sarcasm, so the likes of Shikamaru and Neji can’t say a damn thing to mock them that works because their second language is Sarcasm, and they all think that Team 7 does it on purpose.

Like.

Shikamaru: Wow, you three really are attached at the hip. Do you brush each other’s teeth too?

Sakura: What? no, why would we? 

Naruto: ....what’s brushing your teeth.

Sakura, screeching: Ok So Maybe I Should Start Brushing Naruto’s Teeth What The Fuck Thanks Shikamaru.

Shikamaru, has whiplash: ....wh. what.

Neji, dry as a dessert: Wow, you’re the infamous Kakashi Hatake’s team? Truly, I’ve never been so impressed in my life.

Naruto, beaming: Thanks!

Sasuke, Nodding: Duh.

Sakura: That’s high praise, we appriciate it!

Naruto is, by far (when Sasuke isn’t being loud) the Most Noticable stimmer. He’s so fucking bouncy. He’s always moving! He flaps and he bounces and he shakes and he rocks and he stretches, and if you tell him to be still he’ll probably like. Hiss at you because he’s a lowkey feral child that raised himself.

If he’s bored (he’s basically always bored) then he’s bouncing his leg if he’s sitting and bouncing on the balls of his feet if he’s standing. He shakes his head when he’s happy and flaps his hands if he’s excited! He rocks back and forth when he’s scared and sticks his tongue out when he’s nervous, and rubs his hands/arms/legs/face violently when he’s angry.

Fidget-Spinner-Kunai things that him and Sakura used and then Kakashi actually made useable were fucking. life saving. He straight up giggled the first dozen times he used his because he was just so happy that he had people in his life that understood this part of him and helped him and cared about him enough to include him and help him and he loves his team so much!!!!!! 

Not to mention he always has to be. doing something. At all times. And Sakura notices and galaxy brains and one day, before Kakashi shows up, she sits him down and teaches him to finger knit (something that Ino taught her), and he almost vibrates into another plane of existence! He messes up a lot at first and keeps tensing up waiting to get yelled at, but Sakura just hums paitently and helps him fix it. 

Naruto’s like, super duper good at patterns though, so he’s got it down in a few hours pat and he’s better then Sakura by the end of the month, and he showers her in gifts. 

She’s nevous that it’s him flirting with her again at first, but pretty much immediately softens when he doesn’t even try for a romantic angle and just starts infodumping on her about how he did this stitch or something he tried to make that pattern work. 

He stops in the middle of a sentance and scratches his head hesitantly, apologizing, and her heart aches because she’s more then familiar with stopping herself in the middle of a rant she really wants to finish, so she just rolls her eyes and tells him to continue while she pops a piece of gum into her mouth so it’s easier for her to focus on and give feedback to what he’s saying. 

And also he’s super sensetive to sound, so Sasuke’s stimming drives him fucking banana’s sometimes, even though he tries so hard to respect the ravenette because he knows what it’s like to be told to stop doing the things you need to do to focus. And then Kakashi notices and!!! Pulls Sasuke aside and talks to the Ravennete about it! And Naruto gets super nervous that it’s going to ruin his and Sasuke’s tentative almost-friendship, but instead Sasuke like. Stands further from Naruto when he has to make noise or tries to be a little bit quieter, because he, like Naruto, knows what it’s like to not be able to focus because of something dumb. If anything, he’s angry that Naruto didn’t say anything sooner.

The faster he’s moving the more excited he is! It’s concerning to people sometimes because doesn’t that hurt? Isn’t the sound earsplitting? But nope! The sting is grounding and the sound is suuuuper satisfying! 

Ok. So I reglogged a post that’s very near and dear to my heart a few days back about Sasuke and ADHD, and honestly I agree with everything there and have vauge intentions on adding onto it.

I totally think he was a pretty jittery kid when he was younger, but Fuguku was a total ass about it (big surprise) so he had to start doing the more innocuous stims. He’s a MAJOR lip biter and REFUSES to use chapstick because he cannot handle the texture of ‘soft lips’ that come with using chapstick. Poor Iruka had to deal with a kid who would bite his lips until they bled without even noticing until Kiba started whining about the smell of blood, and then just. Licked it up and moved on like there was no issue.

When he got flack for biting his lips, he’d simply move to biting his tongue or the insides  of his cheeks. He’s a damn vampire at this point, with how accustomed he is to the taste of blood.

Honestly, though, he’s most comfortable stimming with his hands. honestly, unpopular opinion but I’d say that he’s the loudest stimmer on Team Kakashi, because he’s the only one that Stims for noise. He needs to hear the sounds he’s making so that he can focus- it’s a lot of tapping his hands (or whatevers in his hands) and humming and clicking his tongue, from him. He did not partake in the making of the fidget spinner, because he is far too dignified to make a TOY, but he 100% was their first customer and bought 6. 

He flails his arms and/or hums aggressively when he’s angry, and threads his fingers together and squeezes when he’s spacing out (usually about itachi) and he flicks his finger right next to his ear when he’s trying to focus and, on the rare occasion that he’s happy, his fingers loudly parade across the nearest surface! He hunches in on himself and tenses up to shake when he’s overstimulated and runs his fingers through  his hair when he’s planning.

it’s taken me years to sit down and write these when it’s my brand anyway here goes

sasuke would definitely have more of the inattentive type of adhd, so no one’s really considered it a Problem because he wasn’t disruptive in class or anything like that

he has a steady hyperfocus he can always come back to in regards to: training and gardening

when he’s not hyperfocusing though he’s miserable and irritable until the feeling comes back. nobody gets the brunt of it more than naruto (who’s like a parallel mirror of his adhd lol)

sasuke stims with his hands. he likes spinning his kunai around his fingers, tapping his fingers along a table. he’s been scolded by fugaku for doing any of the more distracting stims, such as tapping his foot for example.

THE REJECTION SENSITIVITY DISORDER EXPLAINS SO MUCH ABOUT HIM!!!!!

feeling unfavored by his father for his brother who seems to be more naturally gifted than sasuke and no matter how hard he tries it feels like he’ll never catch up. 

and again with naruto surpassing him seemingly so easily and the rage he feels because of it, the feeling of inferiority that overwhelms him that makes him almost put a chidori through his closest friend’s chest

while i’m here, the impulsive nature and inability to regulate his emotions throughout part 1 as his life falls apart/goes into chaos making it harder to ‘manage’ his symptoms vs. the structure and control he had as an academy student (where naruto thought sasuke was the perfect one who never struggled)

extensive daydreaming . like so fucking much. the most featured and intricate daydreams are where he kills itachi

if nothing really catches his interest, such as girls for example, that bored expression on his face? yeah. he’s not focusing on anything they’re talking about he’s probably thinking about like. cats. or fucking knives or some shit
