fandom crossovers that are probably irrelevant to everyone except me <33
Saw/shared a post that mentioned 'youtube grammar' yesterday and I checked the tag and
Its basically the thing where people mishear words or phrases and then say it wrong. Some examples are
'manner of fact' instead of 'matter of fact', 'eck cetera' instead of 'et cetera' 'I could care less' v 'I couldn't care less'
And the poster blamed this on lowered education standards, lack of education, and basically people not learning grammar rules and not being able to break down what language a word is from to figure out pronounciation. Im not saying thats wrong, I dont know.
But I also have a running joke/recognition with friends who are bilingual or speak multiple languages, about how sounds get mixed up your head, and sometimes you'll even think of the right word but your muscle memory will write or type another. The example that started the conversation in earnest was me spelling the word 'pneumonic' instead of 'mnemonic'. (If you're going ooh this is his tumblr, hi! :D).
In a comment I was just writing, I wrote think instead of thing. I knew the word I wanted was thing, its the word I thought, its not the word I typed.
Also today I wrote 'mood' instead 'move'.
Its not a lack of education, or a misunderstanding of grammar, or mislearing a phrase. My fingers just mess it up sometimes, because somehow the link between thought and typing has to do with the sounds, not the root or the spelling or possibly even the language. Because, pneumonic.
I dont know if this holds the same with the spoken word, I dont know what those pathways are, and to begin with Im neither a linguist nor neurologist. Im just noticing patterns with myself and my friends.
If anyone does know facts or science about this, please do chime in!
Now that I think about it, those kids actually have the same schedule for the exam subjects now. It's just that, the classes were divided based on their performance in each of the subjects.
Oh, and I reread chapter 25 only to find out that both Connie and Meg were indeed in the same group with Anya, Damian and Ewen there.
Now I wonder what will happen next...
For the Green Lantern/MHA ask that just got posted: I'd argue that Bakugou would get a Yellow ring, not a Red. Because Atrocitus at one point says the Red rings only attract people driven by rage gained from personal loss. He even calls rage coming from things like prejudice/ignorance/threats as fear in disguise. And Bakugou's rage comes from his myriad issues, most notably being afraid of Izuku and the fear generated by his inferiority/superiority complex. All his rage is a front for his fear
I actually did toy with him getting a yellow ring. Part of why I decided against it is I did want the subtle implication that was going over Bakugou's head; namely that the red rings (in main DC canon at least) aren't going to villains. Overwhelmingly the yellow rings do. Like if I did do that as a proper AU I may have done it that Katsuki got a yellow ring, along with how Shigaraki did, and Katsuki having to handle in a sense the way the rings rolled out that he was viewed as only being 'worthy' of a villainous ring.
Though now thinking on this I could actually have done something super interesting with Bakugou getting a yellow ring (and in a sense being forced for at least a time) and having to join a villainous organization (the Sinestro Corps), and Shigaraki getting a red ring (since a lot of his issues *do* stem from personal loss in the form of his family) and thus for a time being part of a group that more leans towards anti-villains....

Addendum to Heartland Ep. 1502...
Okay, so there were not that many humourous bits in Runaway, but I was just reminded of the burnt chicken fingers scene.
Jessica Steen did a great job in those scenes as Lisa is on the phone, trying not to lose her cool as she hears bad news about Bow’s health, along with Lyndy’s discordant keyboard-playing (”I wrote this song for you!” plonk-plonk-plonk), Katie’s interruption asking if they could order pizza, and then finally Parker pointing out the smoking oven. How Lisa doesn’t totally blow up more often is beyond me, but I’m glad she put her foot down this time, and that Jack stepped up and backed her up, too. I’ve seen comments from several viewers that this was a long time coming, and a real at last Jack is defending his wife moment.
This leads me to wonder how Amy and Lou will treat Jessica Cook moving forward. In many ways, they have “experience” dealing with a new woman in the family when Jack married Lisa. After their bumpy start (Lou, after all, does have valid reasons not to like her former boss) it seems Lou might actually get along with her stepmother. I wonder if it’ll be easier for Jess because Lisa has already cleared the way. She’s beaten down a path ahead of Tim’s new wife, and I think Amy and Lou might turn out to tolerate Jess’ presence a lot quicker and easier than they did Lisa.
Time will tell, right?
Some minor additional thoughts on the Zuko Azula water tribe AU Link here
1) AZULA WITH HAIR LOOPS!!
2)Hakoda having to deal with Sokka and Azula trying to sneak along on hunting trips. Jut the image of him carrying Azula off of the ship when there going off to war because she sneaked on board.
3)Zhao becoming less and less respected because he keeps ending up in stupid situations due to the Gaang, his temper nearly always getting the better of him.
4) In the swamp Zuko/Azula seeing flashes of Ozai/Ursa, Zuko just sort of freezing while Azula is just like ‘NOPE GONNA KEEP REPRESSING THIS! NOT TODAY SPIRITS! NOT.TODAY!!!’
5)Appa maybe not being taken, because as soon as the no destroying rule is mentioned, everyone just looks at Azula and she’s like ok fine, so she leaves to wait with Toph. So sandbenders have to deal with her...it would not end well for them.
6)Reunion with Iroh and him just adopting the entire Gaang and being so happy that both Azula and Zuko grew up happy and loved and away from Ozai’s influence.
7)Meeting Toph, Zuko and Azula planning to bust her out of her parents house before she shows up.
8)Azula and Yue with their helpless pining, just Azula staring heart eyes and for the first time becomes an awkward fumbling mess Zuko:’who are you and what have you done with my sister?’
and finally 9) Momo and Azula partners in crime!
Additionally, I fully changed Bliss’ backstory because yeah. The Reboot is major character assassination but I can’t stand the idea that they want to imply that Professor Utonium
A man who has gone above and beyond to protect his children (to a fault) would just let this happen? Would just accept that Bliss had like exploded and disappeared, just shoots her with a stun gun after all these years of believing she was dead? Yeah hard NO.
Even if it’s his first “child” he is a dedicated and caring individual and he would have worked harder and done whatever he can to help with Bliss’ unstable nature.
So to me it made more sense that the Professor would keep Bliss in stasis, working with her through the years with the plan of reveal once she was stable to prevent drama and complication. It might not be the best choice, but Professor often goes overboard doing what he thinks is best for his girls and I felt this should be no exception.
