If people acknowledged that processing traumatic and life changing events takes time, we'd be a lot more healing oriented.

neurotypicals: why are you so weird? you’re really weird
me: I'm autistic
neurotypicals: but then why are you so normal? you’re really normal
I just paid a shitton of money to get a paper saying what I already knew but no one else believed. Feels like a well spend money tho, proving to society I was right all along.
When it comes to gender/sexuality/etc. its often very difficult for neurodivergent people to be able to find exactly what label fits them
Often its difficult for us to pin down our emotions enough to establish certain things, which makes it common for us to reject things altogether such as labeling ourselves as nonbinary
Of course this isn't everyone, but it is a large enough number to see a corrilation
So just know, if you are struggling with your Identity as a neurodivergent person, thats totally normal (not sarcasm) and if you need to use a label that isn't 100% correct, don't worry about it. You can always change it later :)
me to my autistic brain: this will not become a hyperfixation!
my autistic brain: you are absolutly right, it already is!

having autism and avpd is such a bad combination when it comes to socializing😔
me when most autistic ppl ramble about their special interests
me when my dad rambles about his special interests (cars and politics)
me when i catch myself rambling about my special interests
It's come to a point in my life where I now take my ear defenders every place I go because of noise. I used to be very ashamed and embarrassed of going out wearing them because I felt like I'd be judged and seen as “the weird kid”, but I've noticed that even if people look most of the time, they're not bothered! I don't know who needs to hear this, but don't stop yourself from using something that you NEED that will help you because you fear what people will think. Wear those ear defenders, play with those stim toys and be awesome!
