What got you interested in Ace and Buttercup ship?
To be honest I don't even know for sure. I like the fact that Buttercup (despite her young age) was attracted to Ace, despite his villainous activities and appearance. This didn't stop her from falling in love with him. I find this charming.
Yes I don't claim that I like the fact that their age difference in the original series is so significant and I don't support it but I enjoy thinking that they would make a good couple once she grows up and reaches adulthood. They just look good together in my opinion. And I'm especially fond of the idea in the game Fusions Fall, where Buttercup is one of the members of their gang.
I've always been interested in antagonists and the relationship between good/evil. Buttercup isn't a perfect superhero and Ace isn't a perfect villain so they complement each other well. Ace is just a silly teenager who has some questionable (but not terrible) goals in life. And he grew up to be a beautiful and talented man (in the Gorillaz au).
In any case I like their interaction and Buttercup was able to see the good side of him that she could fall in love with, which I find cute.

The only canon Buttercup ship lol. They put it in the chapter books, the DC comics, "Aspirations", fusionfall etc.
I prefer other ships for both characters personally even if it breaks from my brand [dubious age gap heroine-villain ships] but I can't rag on it! There's a lot to work with and back before fandom culture shit the bed it used to be fairly popular.
I see them like this: the GGG mellow out as they age by starting a band and Ace eventually covers for Murdoc in Gorillaz briefly. Buttercup secretly keeps tabs on him the way one might stalk an ex. It's implied in "Aspirations" that she still sort of likes him, but she's Buttercup; she is never going to admit that or act on it after what happened, she feels too much guilt. By the time she's old enough to date she's already met better people.
Not exactly married with kids, but I've read and loved fanfics where they are. I honestly don't bat an eye at it. Especially if it's either Buttercup acting out as a teenager trying to be more grown up, or Ace realizing he was stupid and trying to make up for it; ideally both so no one gets too hurt.
