What got you interested in Ace and Buttercup ship?
To be honest I don't even know for sure. I like the fact that Buttercup (despite her young age) was attracted to Ace, despite his villainous activities and appearance. This didn't stop her from falling in love with him. I find this charming.
Yes I don't claim that I like the fact that their age difference in the original series is so significant and I don't support it but I enjoy thinking that they would make a good couple once she grows up and reaches adulthood. They just look good together in my opinion. And I'm especially fond of the idea in the game Fusions Fall, where Buttercup is one of the members of their gang.
I've always been interested in antagonists and the relationship between good/evil. Buttercup isn't a perfect superhero and Ace isn't a perfect villain so they complement each other well. Ace is just a silly teenager who has some questionable (but not terrible) goals in life. And he grew up to be a beautiful and talented man (in the Gorillaz au).
In any case I like their interaction and Buttercup was able to see the good side of him that she could fall in love with, which I find cute.
