I think as an AAC user, I get jealous. I get jealous of those who can chose to use it or don’t use it (I have the choice to not use it, but then I just won’t communicate). I use AAC basically full time in public, and use it sorta at home. I prefer mouth words at home but I usually use It throughout the day.
I know this is probably horrible, but I can’t help but feel jealous of those who don’t need it to just get words out. For their mouth to work. It’s hard to be someone that feels like they have a brain and mouth disconnect. To have words that won’t come out so you HAD to get AAC.
I don’t know, I just feel very jealous of those who don’t constantly struggle with words. Who don’t stutter over their words, who are able to get their words out, who aren’t declining in speech. My speech just continues to get worse and it’s hard to go through that. It’s all just hard.
quick little zine we did
mom.. it hurts when you say this.. you know Shane struggles with being verbal. yet you want Shane to be vebral all the time. not to use nonverbal communication with others. to hide it. why? are you ashamed of me? you are.. i know.. system has to talk to you instead of me.. thats why no talk with you.. she doesn't understand. you make us feel bad for use AAC/TTS.. stop it..
struggling with speech super bad
has never been so bad until lately been forcing a lot of speech and it's hurting us
it's legit so much to speak but we feel like we have to

Aac is so hard for me.
Aac is hard for me. Because of my learning disabilities and memory issues, I often struggle with my aac. If something is in a folder then I won’t remember where it is. The only things I really remember are the things I’ve customized myself, or a folder I use constantly. It’s very hard for me.
It’s frustrating to struggle with something that’s communicating for me. Like, I just want to communicate. It’s so so frustrating that oral words that I struggle so much with is easier then communicating with an AAC.
I hope other people can relate to this. I feel so alone. Right now I’ve been using verbal communication more commonly then aac because it’s easier. I hate it. I wish I could use aac freely without struggle. It’s annoying and I know it’ll get better with practice but it’s still frustrating and annoying.
