Did I ever tell you guys about the Cabin in the Woods continuation I thought of?
Alright so it's set before the events of the movie (obviously), about 15 years or so. I'm thinking that it would work really well as a tv series. Think monster of the week style. Our main characters aren't the 5 sacrifices, but rather a scattering of different workers from different departments in the office. We only have two main guys who stay there for a long while, Steve and Gary, the two who we see in CitW. They're pretty new in the beginning, maybe two or three years along.
Each episode or every few episodes we get another year, up until the last year. We get to see them all becoming a bit more jaded to death.
Not a lot of people stay very long, maybe they have someone lose their mind or something at some point. There's a good amount of philosophy and talk about psychological trauma from doing what needs to be done, but also r&d making dumb crap and general workplace drama and stuff to help balance it out.
It’s 7 o’clock at night, and my hands smell like dish soap My stomach is full, and the lights are dim I sit in this house, one I’ve called home, alone. It will be like this for a week, my father and his girlfriend having left for Greece It seems like every young persons dream The perfect opportunity to throw a party, unsupervised But I live in the countryside, in a region where it snows half the year And I never made many friends growing up anyway, not that one would show So here I am, cozy in the living room, listening to lo-fi and vaporwave. My thoughts drift as the sound takes me elsewhere and it’s in that unknown place, that in between plane, that things feel...
alright.
It’s going to be okay. A fleeting feeling that somehow decides it wants to stay. For once I can imagine the future, myself in a house of my own where I can hear the rain falling, the patter on my roof Accompanied by the smell of dinner boiling on the stove and a low volume track coming through computer speakers.Â
Is this what growing up feels like? No, I tell myself Growing up is stressful, painful even, as if I hadn’t had enough of that I’ve prepared for the worst, knowing that I’ll undoubtably struggle As I come to be on my own. But in this place, this idealistic plane, things are not stressful. I wash the dishes in my sink, place them in the drying rack, and I stare out the window, watching the rain fall, and smiling. Life couldn’t be better. But as I return to reality, the dream I ever enjoyed vanishes, and I remember where I really am, and how far I’ve yet to go to make it possible And that’s okay. Because for the first time in forever...
It feels like I finally have a goal. Something to strive for.Â
It’s wonderful.

Bitter
I’ve always been one to go with the flow, never pushing back when it came to others’ happiness even if it meant sacrificing my own. I am better about it now trying my best to give myself the care I deserve.Â
Even if I’ve spoken out more, decided I’ve had enough, there is one thing I do not voice. One thing that tears me up.
The spark died long ago, at least, that spark. You two got along like wildfire. Burning fiercely, caught up just in your own.Â
The yelling, the screaming, the arguments. Sounds I can never forget, conversations not meant to be overheard lingering in my mind.Â
You two are separated now, yet together. The claim of being friends ever on your tongues.Â
It’s as if without the pressure of union you two knock your shit off and act like decent human beings.
I’m bitter. So, so bitter. All the pain and all the change-- And you both act like none of it none of it ever happened.Â
Behaviors that mirrored better days suddenly appear again. Maybe it wasn’t meant to last, maybe this was the best thing.
I tell myself that, over and over, and over and over, because I know that one of you is happier. A love long lost reappeared, and you longed to be with her instead.
I cannot blame you, who am I to get in the way of love? I am not your keeper. I never will be.
But it kills me to see you and her, act so casually, so behaved, so civil, when your first love is gone. When you are lonely, and want company... You seek out the one you were united with, and spoke the words, “’til death do us part.”
I guess in a way, you’re not really breaking that vow, continuing to be friends keeping in touch. I almost wish... almost wish... that you two wouldn’t act so cordially to each other. Because it hurts me, more than I could ever describe, to know that the family I had is nothing more than a hushed friendship kept while that first love is away.Â
