Why are people upset about Tree of Perdition in Masters 25? Like, especially if the requirements for the card were "Green Innistrad Mythic," you have Garruk Relentless (which they wouldn't do because DFC, especially just a single DFC), or Essence of the Wild, which would've been even worse.
Like, people were complaining about Liliana or Snapcaster (or Olivia even) getting reprinted, but the thing is? They just got reprinted in Modern Masters 2017? And I'm already questioning why the Blood Moon two years in a row, but I digress.
Plus, look at what would've been taken out if one of those had been exchanged:
Snapcaster would've taken up a Blue Mythic slot, leaving out Jace, the Mind Sculptor or Vendilion Clique, both of which were in bed of reprints (I also believe A25 was the reason MM3 didn't get a printing for Vend Clique) especially with the unbannings.
Liliana would've meant Doomsday or Phyrexian Negator would've been removed. Negator needed more of a price drop than Doomsday, for the sake of a price drop, but Doomsday has never seen a pack foil print (the only foil is the Hour of Devastation Invocation) so it... Kinda needed it.
Olivia Voldaren would've meant Grenzo would've been taken out, or if something else was taken out then it would've shifted the multicolored (especially) balance more towards R/B, and WotC tends to make the color balance of Magic sets, well... Balanced.
Everyone's upset about /some/ card that didn't get reprinted. Everyone always is. I remember people being upset that we didn't get a Chance reprint in MM3 (or an Aether Vial reprint, or a V Clique, the list goes on.)
I really kinda like that Tree got reprinted, but apparently few share my sentiment.
