A Flash
It didn't arrive like thunder no warning stitched into the sky no trembling hands rehearsing what they'd pretend not to feel
It was smaller than that quieter A moment you could miss if you blinked at the wrong time
Your face was just there close enough to turn the air electric close enough that my thoughts fell out of order like dropped glass
I remember the smell of everything rain on pavement something sweet in your hair the sharp, metallic taste of this is it
and then
not a firework not a cinematic swell just a soft collision of everything I didn't know I was waiting for
A flash
That's all it was a flicker in the long hallway of time barely measurable barely real
But it burned itself into me like it had somewhere to be forever
I've lived whole years since then stacked them neatly watched them collapse rebuilt something resembling a life
Still sometimes in the quiet between one breath and the next I feel it agin
That impossible, fragile instant where the world held still just long enough for me to believe something like forever could exist in a single kiss
