Growing up, I thought disability was a dirty word. Not Mine to claim. I felt outside my body in hospitals but trapped inside when im forced to remember. The smell of Ammonia
Or the sound of someones lag when theyre high. I cant get out of my head yet
I crave good
hospital
shows.
I started watching greys when I was 15. it was the first hospital centered show I watched and enjoyed hours of. It had drama, humor and loveable characters that left me wanting more. But it was also somewhat therapeutic. These doctors (as problematic as they were), cared. They didnt stop until they found answers and helped. Karev existed as both a stubborn, and arogent doctor with anger issues, and the sweetest and greatest advocate for kids and its like my inner child watches.
Then the pitt... it has everything. From doctors like Samira Mohan who is both sweet as a character and a great doctor who listens and seeks answers. We also see her humanity by how she treats patients and when she is with her peers. Mohan feels like a real character. But shes not the only one who does that and its one of the reasons I love this show is because they all feel real, but competent and caring. I love the complexcities of them too. We have Frank Langdon who is a great doctor, But has some shortcomings. However, he isnt shy to listen to his peers and learn. I also love him this season its like he is threading on thin waters while in recovery. I sympathize. He is not my favorite character, but this show and the actor causes me to appreciate his character nonetheless. Trinity Santos: she's sarcastic, a bit mean but has a deep kind soul. she seeks justice no matter what, and such a skilled doctor. We see her be teasing to Whitaker, but offer her home on their first day of meeting. She remindes me of Val. I have a soft spot for Santos. Outside the characters, the show talks about poor health care, how its treated as a business and not a necessity. Its well written, funny, dramatic, tragic, and apparently accurate. My fave hospital show.
