I'm glad that ABC has given the cast new photos but I'm sorry these are some of the worst photos I've ever seen for a big show like this. They all look super cheap and I can't help but wonder did they send the og 911's budget to Nashville? How is Nashville getting movie level promotion and this is what the original is getting?
All of the pics look super dark with like this weird orange tint to them The backgrounds look like something a 3rd grader made playing around with ai. And I don't know if it's just the version of the pics I've seen but they also look blurry. Worst of all is that the photographer literally edited out Oliver's birthmark on all of the pics he's in, so it's not like you could explain it away as just an accident of editing (which even still given the nature of the project would have been unprofessional).
As I was writing this I stopped to look up who did these pics and it was the same person who did the photoshoot for the cast when they moved to ABC for season 7. Looking at some of his other work it's all pretty lackluster in my opinion. He over uses filters and hides his poor editing skills with textures. But even saying that none of his other work is even half as bad as this one.
It's also mind boggling to me how he could have worked with the show before and worked with Oliver before and not remembered that Oliver's birthmark is basically part of his image. Speaking in general as someone who does photography myself it's just really rude to make assumptions about a client's body like that. You should never make significant alterations to someone in a photo like that without checking in to see if it's something they want. Otherwise you're basically saying to them you'd look better if this wasn't on your face.
Personally I think the show should have a new set of photos done up (especially for Oliver) but I know they won't pay for that. I really hope this isn't the start of ABC moving money from 911 to 911 Nashville. I know when shows are new they often get more money and more attention to promote them. I know Lone Star got some of that same treatment in the early days too. Still I feel like the og has never been fully appreciated by either of the networks it's been with. Like just look the station Fox gave Lone Star and the one ABC gave to Nashville and then compare them to the 118 where they don't even have a bunk room.
