now i can finally show their dynamic no longer gatekeeping these guys
without further ado, Cube sees 8 as just another guy in the bar bothering him. especially when he ends up socializing with him while drunk, he hates it 'cause he's not one to get attached and doesn't want that right now—not when he's so close to getting what he wants from the Devil. 8 isn't a direct obstacle, but it won't exactly be nice for him to know what Cube's debt is with the Devil. which it's something he doesn't want anyone either knowing or missing him.
tw // small injury & indication of blood (stardust)
aaaand some loredrop i guess !!!
Cube's soul contract is literally in his suit pocket. 8ball and his kleptomaniac tendencies repeatedly try to grab the paper, but Cube never lets him, even going so far as to once throw a bottle at 8ball's head to protect the contract (—or himself for the headache of answering questions that he doesn't want to.) and, yes, Cube doesn't seem to be indifferent in this case, saying "I don't need his company or his friendship," because he feels guilty. For the record, 8 doesn't even know what's in it. 'cus, mind you, 8ball thinks it's money. But it's so much more valuable and important than that, and Cube doesn't intend to let him know that.
