before the war bucky was high school salutorian and anchor on the track team and vice president of latin club and a three time boxing champion and the best dancer west of flatbush avenue and so beautiful that it hurt to look at him and he raised his youngest sister while working two to three jobs at a time and everybody liked him no matter what and he did all of this while walking around the world lying about who he was fundamentally to everybody all the time then he got drafted and they said shoot this gun and he could have pretended he couldn't but he didn't because he was too addicted to being the best at everything he ever did so he chose not to lie for the first time and shot that gun better than anybody and so really it was his fault it was all his fault
