23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.

okay so i write in my living room. I lay on my couch, it's a fake dusted pink velvet, that's hard as shit. Hurts to sit on, awful couch. Therefore, I've been layering two blankets underneath me, both ridiculously soft, I think they're flannel fleece? One is a dark brown, the other is a bright Christmas red and the fluff is ribbed. I also have two pillows propping me up, blue and green textured kind of like bubble wrap. I usually use my roommates mustard yellow blanket as a real blanket. I drag one of our side tables in front of me to use as a table for food and cups, its got a black metal frame with that shitty fake wood top that all desks you buy off Amazon have. The couch sits on this gorgeous handmade rug we got off facebook marketplace, its a floral/plant design with lots of green, pinks, ash blue, and yellows with a beige and black base. Behind me/beside my side of the couch is where my new electric drum set sits! Behind the couch is a white room divider so my desk space has a little privacy, it's got little fairy lights looped around the top of it. Then the TV is across from the couch, and I usually have smosh videos playing on it quietly in the background. The TV stands on a black wood TV shelf which also has me and my roommates switches on top. My switch (Zelda TOTK special edition) is surrounded by a salt lamp, a 3D printed possum that kit gave me <3, and a purple mushroom lamp with little light up amethyst crystals. On the shelves below its got my switch games, my roommates board games, my guitar amp, my records and record player, my CD and CD player, and my physio stuff. To the left of the TV shelf is my guitar, she's an electric epiphone les paul? I think? It's a cherry red that gets darker near the edges. She looks a lot like the heritage cherry sunburst ones, but darker. Above the TV is the art wall, it's got a bunch of different art prints. We tried to pull colours from the rug so it's a lot of green, black, pink, blue, and yellow. Some are famous art pieces like skull of skeleton with a burning cigarette by van gogh, le basin des nymphaes by monet, the kiss by gustav klimt etc. but we also have a bunch of local photography prints. Despite the demon couch, I do love our living room. It feels as homey as it can get I think.

3. what is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?

so i. don't think i have one. not sure ive ever had one. possibly its cursed bc in the past my writing has just been like. well i don't have anything else to do right this second so let's pop open the laptop and pick up where i left off. technically it is now still also like that but the motivation to actually write has been. severely lacking. i may also be confusing ritual for routine but im pretty sure in this instance those words are basically interchangeable. i shouldnt be sacrificing a lamb every time i want to write a new fic. or hey if that's what everybody else is doing PLEASE let me know. maybe that's what im missing idk

6. what is your darkest fear about writing?

quantitatively my writing has gone so so so downhill in the last couple of years and i can't even confidently say that its bc i have less time to write bc i was writing more while working 4 jobs at once, it is simply that i just do not have ideas anymore and this scares me so so much. when will my creativity return to me. and also when i do force myself to write Something i feel like its been falling so flat lately. like i should be excited that ive written anything at all but i fear my writing degree is failing me. these are not narrative stories they are scripts without blocking these are two talking heads my college writing teachers would be SO DISAPPOINTED IN ME </3 anyway to summarize i guess the fear is that the writing will soon just stop and ill lose the one thing ive been passionate about since i was like. 8.

1. Start to finish, how long did it take to plan and write? Did you take breaks during the process?

4 months! March to July. I didn't really plan in advance for it, so the whole things was written in that time period as I was actively posting. I don't think I took any longer than a week or two break during it? but I can't quite remember lol

5. Did you outline the fic?

10. How did you approach writing the fic? (e.g. wrote it start to finish in order, started with the ending, starting with the twist)

I wrote all of these start to finish!! They're all under 3.5k so I think I wrote all of them in one sitting (Individually, not together.) I was using them as excuses to procrastinate on writing my thesis at the time, lol.

18. Talk about your editing and revision process

My editing and revision process was the same for how I normally edit (which is like, I really don't because I don't like it) but also when I was writing I was relying on my own background knowledge, so I spent a lot of time doing little bits of historical research and correcting myself. I think the biggest place where that happened was looking into the history of medicinal hotels in the napa valley and the creation of calistoga as a town. using my student jsor access for evil lmao.
