2D FINAL PIECEÂ
Acetate book with one fold paint designs in a saddle-stitched bind with fish string.
RATIONALE The final ended up being a book that layered the Rorscharch painting techniques on acetate. I found the technique to be the best way to represent Uniplicate because of the intricate designs that could be made with one fold. The designs from the one fold on acetate created very organic shapes and textures from the acrylic gouache used. Each paint blot looked alive being standalone on its transparent format. Â
Final inkblot designs used for the 2d book
Bona Nova type used for the cover and 200-300 word description. Formatted the type to be on both sides of the fold equally in order to mimic the Rorscharch technique.

A few of the pages I experimented with and will use in the final productÂ
PROTOTYPE
The prototype consisted of 5 different Rorscharch blots. 2 of them I’ve created into designs of symmetrical shells of brachipods and the others as shapes of organs/plants for Uniplicate’s biology aspectÂ
Bona Nova
I’ve decided to use Bona Nova typeface because of its similar history and use like Uniplicate. It was fairly old typeface that was designed in 1971 by Andrzej Heidrich and then redesigned to fit contemporary digital format. Which leaves Bona Nova to be versatile and still relevant in use with today’s society just like Uniplicate can be too. https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/bona-nova?q%5Bterm%5D=serif&q%5Bsearch_check%5D=Y
