The final Open workout of the season was today and it 20.5 was a fun one. This one was unique in that we were given a specific amount of work, but was allowed to break it up anyway we wanted. In watching the announcement, the athletes each had different schemes for doing it.
The workout was:
For Time:
40 Ring Muscle Ups
80 โ Calorie Row
120 โ Wallballs (20#)

well, the open is over for another season. i did 20.5 this morning, which was:
for time, 20 min cap
40 ring muscle ups
80 calorie row
120 wall balls
partition anyhow
so i knew i could get the rowing and wall balls done and a good amount of muscle ups, so my strategy was start with 3 muscle ups, then do 10 rounds of 12 wall balls, 8 calories, and 1-2 muscle ups, and then just get as many muscle ups as i could in the remaining time.ย
i finished 22 muscle ups, which was more than i expected to get and also a muscle up PB - iโve never done that many in a workout before! they were slow and there were some ugly ones, but i didnโt fail any reps and they actually felt the best they have in a while, even better than the ones i did on tuesday. iโm pretty happy with that; my gymnastics is not amazing but itโs good enough to makeup for my lowish placing last week (probably) since for the women, being able to rep out muscle ups will bump you up heaps of places.ย
also that dude from uni whoโs doing placement with us and who is a really good gymnast said that my muscle ups were better than i made them out to be and that iโm strong in the kip but i need to be faster in the turnover. promising!!
also also my rings were uneven - the right was a little higher than the left - so my right side had to work more which means iโve fucked my serratus a little so iโm hoping that if i release my trap a little itโll settle down? idk.
