various lyric blinkies that we relate to our own plurality
For @felidaety ‘s 500 followers event - theme: Identity
we weren’t really sure what to do with this theme since our identity is always so fluid due to our plurality and we went “oh, why not make graphics based on that?” song taste is one of the things that changes the most between us so we felt it appropriate
songs:
Half the Glass by Allenimations + Antony Kos | A Mask of My Own Face by Lemon Demon
Maybe Man by AJR | 2085 by AJR
Dear Future Self by TowTellLee | Chasin’ Honey by Wild Party
"2085" by AJR, as I see it because of synesthesia!
unrelated to my current mental breakdown but i found this in my drafts @igotsap i think younger me was going a little insane there
2085 sums up pretty well the entire album as a whole- but what if i said this- "2085 represents not only The Maybe Man, but also gives a nod to The Click, Neotheater, and OKO???
"glacier, no." you're thinking. AND YOU'RE PROBABLY RIGHT-
so in the beginning of 2085, we hear (...jack???) sing *cough cough absolute gibberish*, and there are three theories on what was said.
"You are not alone, just know, just know,"
"You are not all grown, just know, just know,"
"You work hard for now, just now, just now."
Jack i think confirmed that it was the third one, but he'd love to see everyone's interpretations.
Now, let's transition to Neotheater. I think we can all agree the main theme of the album is growing up. Next Up Forever, Birthday Party, 100 Bad Days, Turning Out ii, ETC, nearly all the songs surround this theme.
This connects strangely well to the 2085 lyrics, "You are not all grown, just know, just know."
The Click is more social, trying to fit in, but eventually not feeling it. Weak, Sober Up, Drama, No Grass Today, ETC, this one connects to "You are not alone, just know, just know" You are not alone in feeling left out and questioning "What the hell are those people doing???"
and that leaves OKO with "You work hard for now, just now, just now." My Play, Adventure is Out There, WSV, Bang, (The Trick portrays opposite of the main theme) and Christmas in June.
BUT WHERE DOES THAT PUT LIVING ROOM??!?!?!?!?!?!?!??
Well, Obviously, It's because Thirsty has infected the entire album with its yodeling-
