Walking into the room with the perfectly wrapped present behind my back. She’s sitting on the couch beautiful as ever and I say “since you are deploying I wanted to get you something.” 

She looks at me astonished that someone is being such a gentleman to her. My goal is to make her happy and make her realize that I love her.  Opening the card first she wraps me in one of the warmest hugs I’ve received from her. Saying, “Aww (my name) I love it.” I tell her to open the present and you’ll love me even more. Well that second bit I kept to myself. The wrapping paper and the bow were the same style as her present from me last year. I remembered how much she liked them so I kept it the same. 

Her jaw dropped in aw. She loved the locket. So beautiful with a memory inside. A simple picture of a puddle and a date “04 Sept 2016.” She said two things throughout admiring the locket that made my heart melt.  One: These things only have meaning to us and no one will know any different if they see it. I told her that was the point. Sort of smirking at her.

Two: “You know I’m taking this with me when I go (on her deployment).” And I told her that’s the reason I got it for her. 

The rest of our time together that night she snuggled up so close. 

I want to show her what true love can be like. I want to make her the happiest woman alive. I want to make love with her. I want to be with her.  //LWS
