Did I Mention that I’m Majoring in Pastry Arts
I would like to present to you Sweetie PreCure :D
As mentioned earlier on the top of the post, I'm currently majoring in Pastry Arts and actually going to a culinary/pastry/hospitality school. Sweetie PreCure is one of my oldest PreCures, but one day while I was watching Yumeiro Patisserie, I thought it would be a great idea to actaully have them be in rivaling pastry arts schools, and look like pastry chefs while fighting :D
And since I am a pastry student, I thought it would be a cool idea to base them what I’m currently/would be learning, so there’s a Cure themed on Cake, Confections/Candies, Breads, Pastries, Custards, and Decorating/Plating. I also thought it would be cool to include some pictures from my pastry classes.
Mikamo Fukkura is Cure Cakewalk
“Assembled to perfection with a decorated heart! PreCure Patissiere! Cure Cakewalk!”
“Kanpeki ni shiage rareta, kazara reta hāto! Purikyua Patishiēru! Kyua Kēkiu~ōku!”
“完璧に仕上げられた、飾られたハート!プリキュア・パティシエール!キュア・ケーキウォーク!”
Mikamo is curious and considerate . She wants to have her own cake shop one day, and loves thinking and planning out the kinks of making it possible. She loves baking and decorating cakes and cupcakes and is very good at it, and is confident in her abilities. She eager to learn about other desserts and is excited to learn more about them and to put what she learns to practice. The last thing she wants to do is to be a burden, and enjoys being polite and helpful when she can. However she often struggles with self esteem and often struggles with feeling like she’s good enough because of her weaknesses, like speed and her volume. She often feels like this journey to make her dream come true is so painful that she should just give up so she stops feeling so bad about herself and actually regain some joy in baking again. But when she imagines having her cake shop, she knows it’ll all be worth it in the end, and perseveres anyway. She's 18 years old.
Mikamo (美甘) - Beautiful and sweet
Fukkura (ふっくら) - Fluffy, puffy, plump, the type of fluffy often used for baked goods.
Cakewalk usually means that something was really easy, but it also means “a dance developed from the "prize walks" (dance contests with a cake awarded as the prize) held in the mid-19th century, generally at get-togethers of African Americans on plantations before and after emancipation in the Southern United States” ( thank you Wikipedia :D ).
Sayu Satōkesshō is Cure Confection
“A shining light with a candied heart! PreCure Patissiere! Cure Confection!”
“Kagayaku hikari to kyandi no yōna hāto! Purikyua Patishiēru! Kyua Konfekushon!”
“輝く光とキャンディのようなハート!プリキュア・パティシエール!キュア・コンフェクション!”
Sayu is excitable and outspoken. She’s playful and talkative, and has strong reactions and quick reflexes. She’s able to speak her mind without hesitation. Not only can she just say what she thinks needs to be said, but is also able to speak up for others as well. She loves to travel and going on fun trips as well. Her family owns a Japanese Confectionery, and wants to own one of her own with various candies based off of different candies. She's 18 years old.
Sayu (小遊) - combining small and "to play, to enjoy, to travel."
Satōkesshō (砂糖結晶) - sugar crystal
Confection is a sweet food, but in my school, it’s mainly referring to candies.
Saho Komugiko is Cure Pain
“Rising to the challenge with a tough heart! PreCure Patissiere! Cure Pain!”
“Kon'nan ni tachimukau, tsuyoi hāto! Purikyua Patishiēru! Kyua Pan!”
“困難に立ち向かう、強いハート!プリキュア・パティシエール!キュア・パン!”
Saho is disciplined and witty. The most serious out of the trio that go in the first pastry arts school, she’s responsible, focused and has a strong sense of duty. She holds highs standards for herself and is committed to her goals and staying on schedule, like making sure the pastry classes ends on time. She has her playful side, making sarcastic puns and clever wordplay when she can. She enjoys a good bad pun, she gets it from her dad :] She’s an upperclassman and because of that, she gets more pressure and expectations from her teachers, and it kinda burns her out, not wanting to disappoint anyone. She finds that aside from that, one of the most important things to her is that her underclassmen are mentally/physically healthy. She’s 19 years old.
Saho (早穂) - combining "early, early morning, quickly” and "ear of grain”
Komugiko (小麦子) - combining “wheat” and “child”
Kinako Sakkuri is Cure Pastry
“Light and airy with a golden heart! PreCure Patissiere! Cure Pastry!”
“Karoyakade funwari, kogane no hāto! Purikyua Patishiēru! Kyua Pesutorī!”
“軽やかでふんわり、黄金のハート!プリキュア・パティシエール!キュア・ペストリー!”
Kinako is composed yet high strung. She’s a perfectionist, making sure everything she makes is perfect and wants to uphold the image that she’s elegance and grace. Of course there are bits of her that are graceful and polite, but inside is a different story. She gets easily stressed, mainly due to her own thoughts and insecurities, and is generally actually pretty nervous. She comes from a long line of pastry chefs, so there’s pressure there to make sure she doesn’t shame the Sakkuri Family name. She can pull through and bounce back, but she’s gonna need 3-5 business days to be mentally calm again. She’s 20 years old.
Kinako (黄名子) - combining yellow, reputation and child
Sakkuri (さっくり) - crispy, flaky
Pastry means a baked good made of dough with a high fat content.
Hakumi Kinuotome is Cure Anglaise
“Silky smooth with an ivory heart! PreCure Patissiere! Cure Anglaise!”
“Shiruku no yō ni namerakana, aiborī no hāto! Purikyua Patishiēru! Kyua Angurēzu!”
“シルクのように滑らかな、アイボリーのハート!プリキュア・パティシエール!キュア・アングレーズ!”
Hakumi is patient and gentle. You rarely see her panic or lose her temper, she’s very calm, very chill. She’s empathetic to others’ needs and struggles and is open to other perspectives. She’s mellow and tender hearted, showing compassion and understanding, making her very popular with the students and someone that people can go to explain their struggles to. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t get angry though, she can get really riled up sometimes and hard for her to stop, only to feel incredibly ashamed during the aftermath. She’s 20 years old.
Hakumi (白美)- combining white/pure and beauty
Kinuotome (絹乙女)- combining silk and maiden
Anglaise (French for English) comes from Crème Anglaise. Canon PreCure already has Cure Custard, who’s based on a crème caramel which is a baked custard, so my custard themed Cure is based on stirred custards instead. Stirred custards are cooked on a pot on a stovetop, like pastry cream. Crème Anglaise is a stirred custard that can be a yummy vanilla sauce, or a base for mousse or ice cream :)
On your left, you’ll see a pic of a baked custard, a Crème Brûlée baked and (cowardly) torched by yours truly. On your right, you’ll see a pic of the stirred custard in question, Crème Anglaise, that I got from the internet.
Akemi Mekashikonde (Fairy Form is called Kotemin) is Cure Decor
“Show-stopping beauty with an elegant heart! PreCure Patissiere! Cure Decor!”
“Iki o nomu yōna utsukushi-sa to yūgana kokoro o motsu! Purikyua patishiēru! Kyua Dekōru!”
“息を呑むような美しさと優雅な心を持つ!プリキュア・パティシエール!キュアデコール!”
Akemi is artistic and green. A true aesthete, she’s creative and has a deep love for art and beauty. She loves making adding as many fun details into her art as much as she can, and she has a hard time saying no and stopping to the put it no longer becomes practical. She’s entirely new to the world of pastry arts, and often underestimates the difficulty of most tasks. It does cause her to get easily discouraged, and beat herself up for not putting in much thought into things, but she’s fueled by a real drive to learn. She loves the PreCure Patisserie for helping to save her world and protect her species. “They’re so cool :0” “They make it look so easy! If it’s really that easy, then I can do it too, and become one of the world’s Sweetest Heroines!” Filled with inspiration, determination, and naïveté, she’s ready to pursue this new dream >:D (get it girl) She’s 18 years old (I imagine her birthday began in her day of classes).
Akemi (明心 ) - combining bright and heart
Mekashikonde (めかしこんで ) - All Dolled Up
Kotemin (コテみん) - derived from kotekote (コテコテ ) meaning “over-the-top”, in fashion it can be used to describe outfits accessorized from head to toe.
Decor is short for decoration
